I've been reading a marlon brando biography called "Brando Unzipped" and it has quite a bit on James Dean if anybody is interested. it appears they dean and brando were lovers for a while, up until james dean's death. somebody who went with brando to the scene of dean's accident says that he heard marlon (when he knelt down on the road) say something along the lines of 'jimmy i loved you more than i let you know'. just found it quite interesting and moving and wanted to pass it along and keep the thread alive!!

I heard that James Dean walked around with his own photographer. No wonder why there's so much candids of him out there. However, I don't remember hearing about James' relationship with Sam and Brando. The guy that survived the car crash was James Dean's male lover or one of them. Sam Mineo was gay and as for Brando he lived a very private life. I heard rumors about Brando's bisexuality but Sam admitted that he's gay later in life.

also I heard that brando was quite competitive with james because marlon thought that he copied him, so while they were together they were also dating the same women at the same time (ursula andress, pier angeli-who marlon had a relationship before she came to hollywood and then resumed the relationship while she was with dean) sorry that was really rambling

Has anyone ever bought any James Dean memorabalia besides the DVDs or VHS tapes of his movies. I'm talking about the almost so tacky you just have to think about buying it type of items with his face on it, the mugs and posters and coin purses, the wallets, the tee shirts? I'm just curious if anyone here collects those items. How are prices at most dealers? Up? down? good time to buy? Is it better to go on ebay for those things? It seems like the stores charge wayyyy more than ebay. I'm wondering because I know a lot of girls who love James Dean and I'm considering this as gift ideas. But do you suppose it's a waste of money or just too tacky for words? Give me your thoughts! Thanks ladies!

Wow... this is a great shot. My friends and family used to give me James Dean stuff. I have a HUGE framed Broken Dreams fposter that a friend bought for me, magnets, postcards, etc. I've had his biography by David Dalton for years but haven't read it yet (and I like David Dalton).

Oh yeah.. I forgot. I read (somewhere) that Brando was very cruel to Dean. I crushed him because he though the world of Marlon Brando.

^^ Mmm I don't think that's true. I'm a big fan of Marlon Brando and have read alot of books about him and in most they do mention Jimmy Dean being VERY fond of Brando, but Brando was never rude or mean to him.

I think Dean wanted to be really close buds... but Brando's a very aloof guy and was aware that Dean was trying to emulate even his lifestyle so Brando kept his distance. Maybe he was very upset over Brando aloofness. But for the most part there wasn't any direct conflict at all.
