Jane Mayle to head up Chloe?

I don't understand why all the negative about Luella at Chloé
She did great "it" bags, has some sort of breezy and ease sense of fashion, a bit rock n´roller, and she is young, british, and full of ideas...

Chloé needs that, fresh and clean new start, but not forgeting the commecialism

i carry her collection in our store!!
MAYLE is very sweet, feminine, wearable and fun... and i had been told last season that she was in the talks.. i hope she gets it!

The problem I have with Luella is that she doesn't really twist her influences in an original manner--her work often looks re-hashed and overly trendy. To me that would be like suggesting Anna Sui,imo. I don't think she'd offer anything fresh and contemporary. And also there's the point about evolution and redundancy....when I see her collections she seems to have a problem progressing. I just don't think she's got the consistency to head a major house.

As for Jayne Mayle. I agree with Zamb about her experience level..the contrast of designing for her own shop to creative control of a major company. Also from what I've seen of her work, her aesthetics are not very strong to me....nothing really stands out.

^Couldn't agree more about Luella. There's too much of that cartoonish British 'rock n' roll' gimmick going on with her collections that's appealing only on a 'That's kinda cute' level but nothing that's outstandingly beautiful.

I'll reserve judgement about Mayle - the fact that she's very under the radar means that it's very hard to tell what she could/would do for Chloe.

I love the current collection of Chloe! (well except for the bags..)
I think it's heading in the right direction....can't quite imagine Luella Bartly heading Chloe though, it just seems wrong.

i went to a mayle trunk show saturday in san francisco...
the pieces are very feminine...lots of detailing...
a bit like jovovich-hawk or tracy reese...
there's a bit about her store here...

but like others have said, there isn't anything "strong" about them...
and i do think the current team at chloe did an amazing job of continuing phoebe's aesthetic...

jane mayle was there...
i should have asked her about this rumour...:p

Wasn't there talk about how Bartley was upset that she was passed over the first time around when Stella left?

luella? why luella?
something about luella's designs makes me shiver

jane on the other hand might be better (her clothes on the first page)

i love jane mayle. in fact, i just wore a mayle skirt yesterday. to me, her clothes are feminin, yet sort of a professional, wear-this-to-the-office look to them, and very vintage-inspired (50's-60's and sometimes earlier references). like i said, i do love her, but i don't think she's the right fit for chloé. her clothes don't even sell in the same price range as chloé--like someone said before, she's more along the lines of tracy reese, or nanette lepore, etc. maybe it would work though.

i love luella.
but i want her to stay with her own line and do another diffusion line as well.

I like Mayle ... her sensibility is different from Chloe's, but seems like a considerably better match than Olivier and de la Renta in terms of style :p

I disagreed with style.com's panning of the last collection ... I liked it a lot and see no problem with the current team continuing as is. What's his name should give a couple interviews :innocent:

I've never heard of Mayle before but I wasn't so blown away by the last Chloe collection so it would be a nice fresh start. From what I have seen from her clothes so far, they are pretty, but she may need to offer more than just prettiness to design for a well established house like Chloe.

mayle is girly and sometimes predictable imo, and very much about separates. chloe has an edge and a "total look" that I hope they won't lose

well, my big question is what will they do with Mispelaere if they hire her, will they ask him to stay, will he leave, what will be the next step after they confirm her. What is to be thought about is, as i said before, there is a Huge difference between doing a small collection for a store and handling the creative direction for such a legendary fashion house.
Mispelaere is no fashion fluke, he is a gifted designer, one ( or two) of the most spectacular collections i've seen in the last five years was done by this guy. he has the experience, they would not have him there if he was no good.
if i were him, theres no way i would stay on if i was working at a company and they hire someone less experienced than i am to be my boss.
i think one of there biggest probem might be the fact that they had two "It" girls as previous head designers, and maybe they believe thier customer can relate to that. To appoint Mispelaere is to bring possibly a shift in the Dynamic of the company.
but by God, Give the Kid a chance, fashion with the state that it is in needs risk takers like him

i will try to find a link to his collections for Feraud for those who are not familiar with his work

i would be very upset if either luella bartley or jane mayle tok over at chloe...
obviously i wasn't familiar with yvan mispelaere before the whole chloe action started hapenning, but i love both his chloe stuff and feraud.

from what i've seen, he's incredibly talented and clearly has enough restraint not to use chloe as his own playground.

and who is jane mayle?!
