seems like he's the latest to put out a lower-priced line...
looks like this is the savvy thing to do in this economy?

Looks like that French new wave-inspired Target collab wasn’t the end of Jason Wu‘s foray into designing at a lower price point. To the delight of Wu fans with normal-person incomes, the designer’s just announced the launch of Miss Wu, which lies somewhere in between that collection and his main collection in price. It will be sold exclusively in Nordstrom stores beginning in January and then expand into other stores after the first year.
Jason Wu tells WWD that the line, which is named after the cute li’l owl that serves as his logo, was more personal. “I always see Jason Wu [the collection] as my aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. It was really fun to explore that facet of who I am — slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude.”
While the clothes may be more relaxed and downtown, it’s still Jason Wu, so they’re also charming and feminine and, like his Target line, have a bit of vintage inspiration from girls like Marianne Faithful and Jane Birkin.
The striped shirts, feminine blouses, little shifts, A-line dresses, floral skirts, trench coats and leather jackets will range in price from $195-$795 and he plans to add accessories in 2014.
And so the multi-line Jason Wu empire begins (don’t forget he does candles, too)… Let’s hope there are more cats.
