Jennifer Lawrence

The thing I love the most about Jennifer is that with all the success she has achieved so far you'd hardly think she's only 23, but then she smiles and her youth comes out. She looks so adorable in the last pic, however I'm not a fan of her hair in the first shot. The entire ed is pretty lackluster, but I'm excited to read the interview.

The cover didn't strike me as anything special . Felt very bland - not vogue.

The editorial seems to be very English - a modern take on an English rose with her messy chop in the country. That I liked- Her emotions look very carefree which I feel is very refreshing for a vogue editorial.

Does anyone know who made her signet ring on the cover?

I like that the interviewer captured a different side to her and mentioned that Jennifer would grow out of this sadness she's experiencing. I hope she gets a break soon because she sounds like she's on the verge of burning out.

My favourite picture is the one where she's smiling with the puppies.

I like the cover and spread, because it shows her in a different light than most of her other editorials. Not as a sweetheart or a bombshell but as a classic and elegant young lady, which the hair helps convey a lot imo

I might be the only one but I don´t like the smiling pic at all, because I find her smile goofy and -on this spread- it looks so out of place.

As a retoucher, I am appalled by the editing of these photos. They are so unnecessarily blown-out and overworked. I have retouched Jennifer Lawrence (those images are forth-coming) before and I can say from first-hand experience that she does NOT need this kind of treatment. The "look" ("motion" blur, high contrast, whites of the eye bleached) used in these photos is generally saved for aging actresses. She has lost so much character and seems so flat; exactly the opposite of her personality.
I am greatly disappointed.

Isn't that particularly typical of American Vogue though? I feel like we've seen them do the same with a number of (already beautiful) celebrities.

I feel like American Vogue often overdo their retouching, so I'm not really paying top much attention to it, it's become the norm. Which is sad, because she's only 23 years old, and has a very attractive body, it's quite appalling all together, but just not surprising at all !!

It depends on the story, honestly. I've worked on a number of editorials for American Vogue where they wanted to be far less aggressive with the retouching and we were.
You're right that they definitely tend to over do it when it comes to celebrities, but that doesn't mean I'm going to resign myself to accepting it. It frustrates me! I think it obviously frustrates us all.

Since yesterday

which makes it worse :P I'd love to see the process of retouching of someone ..dare I say...past thirty *gasp*

It is crazy. The detail with which they mark-up faces and discuss lines is insane. I don't think people realize how far and to what detail retouching can go. A lot of the time, though, they do photography tricks like blowing out the exposure, using a soft focus, and maybe even add in some motion blur. (ie see Drew Barrymore's recent cover of Harper's)

It's just quite sad that it's gone to that extent, especially in society today were so many people 'aspire' too look like the photos in magazines. I think that i'd be nice if the magazines posted the original photos online just to let people know that these celebrities are actual human beings. A lot of the time they end up looking like dolls or robots. (of course they'd never do this)

Do models go through the same kind of photoshop, since their job is basically being thin you should guess not. ?

^^^Second that idea about posting the original photos online.

I don't mind some enhancing, but photoshop has gone way too far. She's only 23! (Well, there are plenty of celebs older than her that don't need photoshop either.) Anna, somewhere Cecil Beaton is chastizing you for ignoring his advice! (And running to the extreme to over youthify the magazine.)

I have mixed feelings about her editorial. The idea is nice, and the photos themselves are overall good, but it doesn't capture any of her weirdness or her uniqueness. Or her fun side.

Jennifer Lawrence holds on to her co-star Nicholas Hoult as they make their way inside the X-Men: Days Of Future Past private wrap party on Saturday night (August 17) at CINQ in Montreal, Canada.

^am I way off the mark when I say that her hair + strappy top + mini skirt is giving off some serious 90s vibes?

I think that was so underwhelming & baffling about the whole shoot; none of it showcased her personality. It felt like an after thought imo; like someone else dropped out so they had to quickly come up with a plan b. Which is obviously not the case but you would think they would have come up with fresher and exciting choices rather than the one they ended up which would have been suitable for a much older woman. It was all a big MEH imo and such a wasted opportunity after all the hype.

That last outfit , especially with that makeup is almost vulgar. Not a fan at all. Glad to see her back with Nicholas though, he's so dreamy.

As for her Vogue spread I'm still trying to understand the connexion between Jennifer and the dog-loving housewife inspiration, but at least she looks very beautiful on the cover.
