Jeremy Scott Fall 2005 NYC

whatever you call it, art , performance, provocation, I like jeremy scott & I think he adds something to the fashion world every time. I wish there were more Duchamp-ian types like him, he makes half of the fashion world look boring.
so waht if he screws up sometimes, he took a chance. I think he's an important artist & the way people get upset or disdain him is part of the art.

I'm a little tired of designers throwing a shroud of artistic claim over an obvious lack of talent. Disdain for him is not part of some circular high art process. It's part of the 'bad-design-isn't-well-received' process. There are a lot of designers out there that I do think blur the lines between art and fashion, but Jeremy certainly isn't one of them.

If circus is art, yea, you are spot on.

As hard-core and provocative as Jeremy Scott aims to be, his work never fails to reveal a romantic inclination and a super-sensitive feel for things lyrical and magic. In his Fall collection, this pattern underwent a crescendo. The presentation opened up with Jeremy's signature black-swathed hero get-ups -- part West Coast gangsta, part cocoon -- that slowly morphed into mesmerizing over-sized kimonos with droopy sleeves, tight little bee bodies and winged dresses. Thus Fashion Week transformed into... Fashion Creek. Beautiful!
