Jessica Alba Wants to Sue Hugh Hefner *update- she forgives him*

It's complete bull**** that people think that if you starred in "Into the Blue" and "Sin City" you should have less choices as other women and be less angry than other women when your picture was used in a way you didn't allow

What kind of bull**** thinking is this?

So if you were all put on the cover of Playboy, you'd all drop to your knees and thank Hugh for furthering your career?! PLEASE.

that argument (she poses close to naked everywhere else, so how is playboy any different) is eerily close to the argument that says that women who dress provocatively deserve to be raped. (Which an overwhelming number of people in Wales believe) I'm not at all comfortable with that...Oolie and Roppal give excellent points, but posing in a swimsuit on Marie Claire, or playing a stripper(however tacky we may believe it to be) in a movie is not the same thing as having your image or identity linked with something so iconic or symbolic as Playboy.

It seems though that as long as men demand naked women, and women give in to these molds and ideals, then this isn't going to be the last time we see this problem, nor the worst of it.

Exactly. Is a woman who PLAYS A STRIPPER IN A MOVIE, actually a stripper in reality?

Obviously not. One would be an idiot to confuse the two.

^yeah but she did the photoshoot. There are copyrights laws and royalties to be paid for pictures. Playboy legally bought the rights for one pic (or obtained an authorisation form the legal owners), and legally put it on their cover. It's not like they made a photo montage of her head above a naked woman body. Or claimed on their cover to have made an exclusive photoshoot with her.

At the end of the day, if she does not want to see herself on the cover of male publications wearing skimpy outfits, she can choose to not do that kind of pictures, or make sure she keeps total control of their rights.
The Playboy team are totally in their right in this affair, they did nothing wrong.
The only 'bad' people here are those folks from Colombia who sold/authorised the pic without actually consulting Alba.

I agree with this.:flower:

But it was said that Columbia was mislead in what the picture was going to be used for. I believe it seeing as it has also been said that Jessica repeatedly said NO to Hugh when he asked her to appear on the cover.. he did what he could and he got her with the SNEAKIEST intentions. She posed in a bikini because she played the role of a DIVER! Because the movie was pretty much based around the OCEAN. Do you see anyone taking Paul Walkers photo? It is HORRIBLE to suggest that she ignore every movie or person who wants her to take a photo with her dressed in a bikini. There was a reason that photo was taken and the reason was NOT for it to be placed on PLAYBOY. They have their own shoots to do that. It was sneaky. From what I have read about Jessica is that she is very self-respective and she hates the fact that she has to dress so scantily in almost every movie or photo she's been in. But had she not... she wouldnt have a career. Almost every sexy woman in Hollywood has been asked to do this in exchange for their career.

Obviously I don't know the legal details here, I just know what I've read, but what Jessica's legal team is accusing Playboy of is tricking the Colombia people to get the picture. So if this is true, even if Playboy bought it, that's fraud.

Ex.

Act.

Ly.

I'm seriously REALLY confused as to why someone would argue against personal choice and a woman's right here.

^Things aren't always as black and white as you think. People are participating in a debate here, yet you keep getting really angry because people can't see your viewpoint.

As for the women's right thing. YAWN. And whilst we're talking about confusion: I am still really confused as to why you think this is all to do with feminism. Read up on the true concept of it.

And why the hell is Donald Trump on the cover of Playboy... so wrong.

Because balding, middle-aged men can be sexy too?

Jessica Alba presumably gave rights to Columbia to give out a promotional photo of her to whomever they wished. Hard luck if they give it to Playboy: she gets paid enough to have to put up with this kind of thing.

What's her problem...

The way she's provocatively promoted herself over the years to compensate for lack of talent means she'll be heading for Playboy in the future anyway, once the roles inevitably dry up and get passed over to the next hot girl waiting round the corner.......

she might as well get Playboy out of her system now....:innocent:

agreed

Jessica Alba is never going to win any awards for her acting, she should just accept she's a babe with a banging body and reap all she can from that!

Alba Forgives ‘Playboy’

HOLLYWOOD - Jessica Alba has forgiven Playboy founder Hugh Hefner for putting her on the March 2006 cover of the soft-p*rn publication, after he pledged to donate substantial sums to charities of the actress' choice.

The Fantastic Four star threatened legal action after the magazine allegedly 'tricked' Columbia Pictures into allowing them a promotional shot from forthcoming film Into the Blue--after she had already refused to pose for a fee.

But the legendary lothario made amends with a personal letter of apology and as-yet undisclosed donations.

In the letter, Hefner apologizes for "any distress unintentionally caused by the publication of your photo."

He adds, "What was intended as a tribute to your tremendous popularity has been misinterpreted by some as something else for which we are truly sorry since we are among your biggest fans."

Alba says, "In light of Mr. Hefner's personal apology for Playboy's unauthorized use of my photo on their cover, I have decided to discontinue my claims against them."

my god.. people really need to chill the **** out here, seriously.

It wasn't her choice to post for playboy, she repeately said she doesnt want to do it, so it was utterly wrong for them to use her picture.
although i find her arguments, that she doesn't want to be related to playboy or as a 'woman who would pose for playboy' rather silly. yea, she only played strippers, women in bikinis,etc.. but she posed like a million times in bikinis and underwear, even naked just with bedsheets. so although it was 100% wrong for them to use her imagine and they have no right to do that, and alba has EVERY right to be pissed, she should maybe overthink why noone takes her seriously, and why she doesn't convey a feeling of 'class', but is solely known for her body and sexappeal.
