stuff.co.nzKiwi stars in Victoria's Secret show
An Auckland-based modelling agency now has New Zealand's best-kept secret signed to its books, after Jessica Clarke took part in one of the most anticipated fashion shows in the world today.
The 18-year-old from Palmerston North donned her wings for the first time as she joined the ranks of supermodels Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
Clarke, who is signed with Clyne Model Management, only found out she would be walking in the New York fashion show a week ago.
She is the first Kiwi to model for the lingerie brand.
"It's absolutely fantastic. We're really excited for her and her family. She's worked very hard to get where she is today," Clyne Model Management Agency Director Marama Nichols said.
"Victoria's Secret is one of the most renowned and respected contracts a girl can pick up. It is one of the few jobs in modeling along with a worldwide Calvin Klein exclusive or a major fragrance or beauty contract that can make you into a superstar overnight. Girls such as Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks, and Miranda Kerr are all such girls and are very much household names!"
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is an annual highlight, with international celebrities like Orlando Bloom, Kanye West and Jay-Z securing their seats in the front row.
The highlight of this year's event was the US$2.5 million diamond-encrusted bra, worn by Miranda Kerr.
The show also featured performances by Kanye West, Jay-Z and Adam Levine.
Today's show featured 36 models, including catwalk regulars Lima, Alexandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes, Lily Aldridge and Adriana Lima.
