Having opened last year’s Calvin Klein show 3 times (resort, Pret a porter & pre fall) and being named favorite newcomer by CK designer Francisco Costa, Josefien Rodermans’s star is rising up in the fashion world. She’s been acclaimed by models.com, V Magazine and Vogue as one of the freshest new faces on the scene.

Despite not having a huge amount of international experience, she has already done prestigious shows for Chanel, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Rodarte and Valentino. She’s the new face of the See By Chloe campaign SS12 , is on the cover of the first issue of Dutch Vogue and shot with Steven Meisel for Italian Vogue, we’re definitely going to see a lot more of her.

Did you already have an interest in fashion even before you were discovered?
Frankly, not at all. It was never my plan to become a model, but my best friend was a model and I thought ‘I’m tall as well, I’m skinny as well, so let’s just sign up for fun.’ Before that, I was more interested in music and sports. When I was still in school, I really wanted to become a doctor. But after graduation, I decided to take a break for at least a year and that’s where I’m at now. I’m using this time to travel the world, get to know myself and discover what it is I want to do.

Can you name some of your favorite designers? What’s your favorite outfit?
I really like Chanel, designs by Calvin Klein are beautiful because of their minimalism, and I love Alexander McQueen. But there are so many other designers I like. As far as my favorite outfit is concerned, I don’t really have one. However, the dress I wore when I closed the Calvin Klein show was very pretty. I like wearing boots, cool leather jackets, and mainly black. And I like to combine a very tight-fitted outfit with something more loosely-fitted.

What would your advice be for other models?
I’m always thinking about the advice my booker in New York gave me. She said ‘there are two worlds, the fashion world and the real world.’ You must never forget what the real world is, because that’s about love!’
