Josep Font is stepping down as creative director of Spanish luxury brand Delpozo. He was hired to relaunch the brand six years ago by Grupo Perfumes y Diseño, which has held the house’s perfume license since 1992 and acquired the label in full in 2011. A successor will be named at a later date.

Prior to joining Delpozo, Font had his own label, which he showed during Madrid, Barcelona, Tokyo and Paris fashion weeks. He revived Delpozo, originally launched in 1974 by Spanish couturier Jesus del Pozo, with a flare for dramatic, colorful and eccentric collections that often employed couture techniques and silhouettes. Though based in Spain, the brand held its fashion show during New York Fashion Week before switching to London for the last two seasons.

“Josep has been a key figure for the relaunch of Delpozo,” said the company’s president Pedro Trolez, who owns Grupo Perfumes y Diseño, in a statement. “Over the past six years, he has helped rejuvenate and continue the legacy of Jesus.”

“I am very proud of what we have achieved together in the short space of six years,” said Font. “ I want to thank my talented team who has been committed since the beginning of this journey.”

There are freestanding Delpozo stores in Madrid, London and Dubai. The brand has an agreement with Chalhoub Group and KLH Group for further retail expansion in the Middle East and Korea, respectively.

I’m sure this won’t be the last of Joseph, I think he’s just ready to play with the big fish now...

He was underrated at Delpozo so I understand wanting a bigger platform but damn, sad to see him leave because I usually loved his work there.

This better be for Lanvin, if not then what a waste!

Oh, I'd love that. Maybe he could save the brand from itself.

I'm sad to see him go cause i really loved his work at delpozo, it was alwasy a breath of fresh air as fashion gets progressively uninteresting for me.

So talented!
We need to see more of him.

He can great for Lanvin, Nina Ricci or even Dior. I want him at Dior!

I wonder if he had a non-compete agreement? If it’s the case, it better be for 1 year. MGC’s contract expires next year!

Lanvin or Nina Ricci could be a good start. I always loved going to KCD to see Delpozo. Really beautiful. This guy deserves a good brand to show us how talented he is.

Please let him go to Dior! Although I know he can do wonders with Lanvin as well I don't necessarily see his aesthetic fitting with the house's heritage. If he goes to Dior, on the other hand, he'd easily make it seem that MGC (with all due respect) was never there in the first place! Either way, both houses, and many others, would be lucky to have him!

I feel stupid cause I had no idea Delpozo was an older company, I thought it was Josep's.

Yeah he better have gotten a big job in Paris, it's so long overdue. He cold be the one to save Lanvin!

I love the idea of him at Lanvin. If he can resurrect Lanvin, Dior is within reach. Just imagine what he can do with bigger budgets, more skilled ateliers already excites me. Perhaps it's also a good plan to revive Lanvin Couture as the new CEO has express his desire to push the brand to its luxury potential level.

Noooo. This actually makes me sad, he was absolutely perfect for the brand and the collections were always the highlight of fashion week for me. Hopefully he will land somewhere else!

I came across this news last night just minutes after learning about MGC's possible departure from Dior and I couldn't help but wonder if both news actually relate to each other.
