Julia Stegner

So i did a try with my poor German, and translated a tiny part of the interview:

Jan.5,2007

Hello Julia, first of all a “happy new year” to you. How did you spend your xmas and new years eve?

Julia Stegner: I spent xmas with my family. And new years eve too, which I usually spent with friends in munich, this time I spent new years eve with my parents and sister and their friends.

do you still feel at home when you are in munich?

Julia Stegner: yeah of course, in any case! But I live in New York now and that’s also my home, but my real home will always be in munich with my parents.

in what extent can we compare munich with New York?

Julia Stegner: its hard to compare. In New York ppl are more open than in munich. In Munich, if someone meets a friend on the way, he/she still keeps alone, while in New York, ppl always know someone new. So I’d say, the ppl there are quite open.

as a Hannover-er, I think munich is already very big and ny is even so so much bigger…

Julia Stegner:No, not at all. I don’t think new york is that big at all. At least manhattan is extremely “over-view-able”/understandable. Everything is just very easy to get, resp. hailing a cab. Some streets there are four-cornered/squared and makes it quite easy to navigate. I find it much easier to walk around than in munich no matter where you’re heading. That’s why I never understand why everyone says that new york is so huge. Most likely because it’s built so high. Clearly new york is an impressive city, all the skyscrapers and is unlikely very busy there. You just can’t find empty streets there. In munich there are some small streets where nobody’s there, but in new york there’s none.

the job “modelling” is not always a dreamjob, how do you view the light and dark sides of this job?

Julia Stegner: it’s certainly not a dreamjob, like other ppl may think. The girls who do it are willing to think that it’s so glamorous, but they don’t see the dark side of it, which is already there. Doing it you are uncannily busy, I am almost on the way during a whole month. I was like that in October or November. I was completely on the road. From new york to Sweden, from Sweden to paris, from paris to London, and then again to paris, then to LA, then to Europe again. That was super stressful. It’s physically and emotionally stressful, and the job itself is very stressful. It’s not just simply smiling at the camera, but also involves working from four or five in the morning to very late at night. There was once I was working with Karl Lagerfeld, we started at 8 in the morning and finished at nine the next day! There are also many things to do on other sites, to the places where I’d never been to. Although I haven’t seen much of the place. Often just the airport and the set for photoshooting. And you can know so many ppl. And…(laughs)…you are also well served. So i’m absolutely not complaining. But it’s really not just the glamour, like all the others may think.

Sorry if i've messed sth. up... they're both my 2nd language...:ninja:

Du bist ja mittlerweile fast zehn Jahre Model..

you’ve been modeling for almost ten years now..

Julia Stegner: well, not all the time. I was discovered around 14/15(Julia was discovered by a scout from modeling agency Louisa Models during the Octoberfest in Munich, the agency is also famous for Eva Padberg and Elle Macpherson). But I had my first agent since I was 15 – I’m now 22 – but until 18 yo I hadn’t done anything major. For me, school always takes priority. From time to time, I was doing small modeling jobs in Munich on weekends. But I wanted to finish my school first.

K, am going to bed. someone please go on.

:flower:thanks alot min for translating, even thoug im from Germany:lol::lol:

ok for the rest of that interview i used a translating programm personal translator) and i didnt correct anything, so some may make no sense at all, i think its better than nothing for the startB)B)

Was the school so important for you?

Julia Stegner:
Yes! I would never have begun without school-leaving qualification, actually I would want to take my special abitur first, too. But then, the good jobs came, of the Italian Vogue and of the good magazines .. ' and have my parents, my friends and the agency said there you still can your special abitur take, Julia. Who does know whether somebody wants you to see after the special abitur within two years certainly '? And this is also correct, it is a fast-moving business. I then have said to me, ' I ok enter me a limit of six months, if it then does not work I go to school again '. I was lucky, and Gottseidank it has worked.

You come, so as a top model sometimes in temptation to take off?

Julia Stegner:
It was actually never so that I have imagined 'I am so terrific'. It I was never lifted and I am alleged also not. But others must judge this. Till now, but my parents and friends have always confirmed that I still have remained quite normal. And I have the feeling also, like me it was before that I am still that way. I also find this very important. I make nothing special. Ok, I make a job which is perhaps a little unusual, which everybody who is in the public does not make. But I am not a doctor, I do not save any human lifes -- there is no reason to take off for me. I have there, and this one I believe also the right education me of enjoyed at home, which has helped me there on the ground hält.

Being not asked any more sometime how important the success is for you and sometimes you are afraid of it?

Julia Stegner:
I am already a very ambitious person. But in this business one simply must in front of out looking know that the success will not stop eternally. Just as a model one has an expiration date and one can be no longer in demand tomorrow from today one should always this have in the back of the head .. I would be clear also sadly if it would over be sometime, I would already like to put the conclusion. On the other hand I do not want to make the job eternally, too. I want children, house and dog, live a quite normal life with family sometime. Of course it would be hard if it suddenly were over but I could handle that. I also could be thinking of taking and studying the special abitur. There still are things in my life, I still plan which ..

The model scene has terribly got into disrepute last year, two models have died of malnutrition, there were weight checks in Barcelona and in Italy has an ethic code just which shall protect the health of the models on the catwalks and promote a "healthy fashion" been adopted after that. The models mustn't not be old more youngly and the body stocking Mass index low than 18 after that as a 16 year. What are you under discussion regard you as such measures for sensible?

Julia Stegner:
They are welcome to make everyone but no this this is anyway of no use. An age restriction is giving it in Milan now, too, there is this one in Paris already for years. It is said 'everything is child labour less than 16 years' and without a child labour licence the models might work not at all or only little there. And the rules will not be of use. In Paris the Mädels also has worked and the agencies always will find a way. I do not know either how they always do this. I have begun with 18 and I personally would not have wanted to be younger. One needs an improbably strong self-confidence for the job. I think one is simply still very naive with 14 , 15, 16 and simply can not assess some things correctly. In addition, it is often forgotten during the whole discussion but schlcht have young very much that the models are not too thin or lean addicted. Was a large part of the new models from the last year under 16, this which are not developed fully yet were all young girl. You do not have any hips yet, these do not have any bust measurement yet and these do not have any botty yet. See many of them because of this, I do not say everyone, thin out so. However, it will change again, too. One had been the heroin elegantly irritated at that time, this is a phase.

:lol::lol:

What does this look at you, do you pay attention to your diet very much?

Julia Stegner:
Nö, I eat actually quite normally. I like to eat, this is a passion for me. I am not the party walker so, I prefer to go with friends for a beautiful dinner and I then enjoy the meal auch., however, make compensation sports also. In Munich use I have basketball gespiel for eight years, I have made ballet in front of that. I have one I personally exercise coaches with this once in a while and I go to play basketball in summer, if I have time, in New York. In addition, I have 'good genes' as one says so. I could I always wanted to eat what and have not gained weight. I do not live only on salad (laughs).

Do you have a favourite sin what the meal concerns?

Julia Stegner:
Naja, it is not a sin for me .. I am a pasta fan although one says carbohydrates are bad for the figure. But I always have loved pasta and I eat pasta almost every day. And I love chocolate and dessert. There is this one with me almost every day.

There is something, what you miss still unknown warst. from your time as you?

Julia Stegner:
Friends going to a club to think I miss it and dancing unrestrainedly. I am not the great Weggeherin but I have the feeling, me, if I go out in Munich now, can't go to dance without somebody looking and judging me. I have been away once and everyone has turned round and looked when I came to the club. Find structure this terrifically, however, I then have got into the backmost corner.

How long do you need in the bath until you are ready?

Julia Stegner:
Oh, do not be enough at all. This is possible, if, in the evening, I am not away, walks for rather fast, so ten minutes. Therefore 15 to 20 minutes take a shower. I do not carry any make-up privately and I let the hair dry air. I privately do not doll up (laughs so)

Do you already know what you have for orders this year?

Julia Stegner:
This no is everything very quickly. I am already lucky if, I know a month before what I do. One usually knows this at the most a week before. I have shot Vogue a cover for the French, I have learned this first on the same day. I usually know it two, three days before, however. This was very difficult for me at the beginning because I am there very 'German' and was very organized and by planned. But I work to get looser (laughs)

Do you have a ready packed grip at home?

Julia Stegner:
Which must sometimes if I know, away just again. But otherwise I unpack at once. I hate this if this always looks the suitcase rumsteht . . so as if one were on the jump. I do not feel comfortable either there. But one learns in the course of the time how one packs the suitcase. But I still need for it (laughs too long)

Thank you for the old Julia pictures... I loved her with bangs. She lost something recently, maybe her face looks older? I just found her alot more interesting 2 years ago.

she does some weird things with her mouth there but she came there so natural..I liked it

i love her height, she looks SO tall walking onto the set in that vid

I understood not a word of it, but I love hearing/watching her talk. Oh wait, yea I heard Tyra and Heidi;P Does that make me German?

there is no ed in TUSSH or DANSK magazine!!

Why the covergirl has no eds?!

There is the new costume national lookbook she shot but I still haven't got it yet.

and probably some more new guerlain stuff at christmas , then the eds will be a mystery!
