Photographer Josh Olins trains his lens on two of modelling's most distinctive and original faces Juliana Schurig and Meghan Collison for British Vogue's March 2013 issue. Jersey girl Schurig and Alberta native Collison are certainly no strangers to the modelling scene. Schurig returned to the runway circuit last season after having graduated from high school with a new focus and a refined high fashion look which the industry has fully embraced. Collison, likewise has been modelling on and off since 2007, taking time out in 2008 to study psychology and broaden her knowledge. Collison's haunting ethereal-like beauty may be attributed to her Ukrainian and Icelandic roots, ensuring her reputation as the go-to-girl when beauty with an edge is required. What Schurig and Collison both represent though is a changing shift in casting trends where conventional pretty is no longer enough to command the attention of casting directors and designers. Call it a sign of the times but casting directors are now on the look out for models whose look and aesthetic consumers can identify with, whether it be a beauty which challenges the senses or perhaps the growing prevalence of models well into their 20s whose life experience and maturity make them more than just mere human clothes hangers.
