Before heading off on assignment to New York Fashion Week, Vogue make-up artist Justine Purdue takes time to share her beauty secrets and reveal the look she is loving now.
What is your favourite make-up look right now?
A glossed lid and cheekbone, a fuller (slightly elongated) defined brow paired with a matte lip.
What fashion item are you coveting this season?
A second pair of Stella McCartney animal-friendly booties.
Which nail polish colour are you obsessed with right now?
Recessionista by Essie – a beautiful plum red.
What’s your daily skincare routine?
Oil-soluble cleanser, moisturiser with antioxidants and retinol, sunscreen with SPF 30, a few nights using a BHA, and a couple of nights using Hydroquinone on sunspots.
What are your top three make-up bag essentials?
Concealer, lip balm, cheek colour.
What is the first website you go to in the morning?
It’s a tie between www.crazydaysandnights.net and www.dlisted.com. I’m an addict.
What songs are topping your playlist?
Coeur de Pirate’s Wicked Games, Lissie’s The Ship Song and Camille’s Wet Boy.
Favourite destination you have travelled to so far?
El Mirador, in the northern part of Guatemala. Although the destination was incredible, it was the journey through the jungle and the memories with my friend Aaron that makes it a favourite.
You’re about to head New York Fashion Week. Who will you be working with?
The incredibly talented and inspirational Diane Kendal. She is responsible for directing the make-up on shows, including Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Jason Wu, Thakoon and Victoria Beckham. I’ve admired her work for years and this September will be my sixth season with her. I’d actually saved an article about her from about 2000 and showed her on my second season. Thankfully she didn’t think I was a stalker and she’s had me back since.
