Saw that she opened and closed Prada and figured I'd come and see what this girl was all about and she is gorgeous! From her first polaroids she didn't strike me as a Prada girl but the dark hair looks really great on her! She looked pretty good in Prada, can't wait to see what else is in store for this girl!

This might be one of the only times that we disagree iperlchen. I honestly love her look. The shape of her face is perfect and the eyes are strong and yet warm. I've had my eye on her for awhile but Kane really sold me, since I'm not sure anyone looked "great" at Prada.

I think she has a very bright future ahead of her.

her face lacks both striking features and harmony, she barely qualifies as a "quite" beauty
very underwhelmed by her runway appearance too, i'm not fond of her proportions
still intrigued, though, she must have something special, getting both the opening and closing slot
at this point, i don't see it, but i'll try to give her a fair chance, maybe she'll impress in print

The first slot at Prada is arguably the most coveted position on the runways of Milan. Every season one girl stands out from the back to snag the opening of Miuccia Prada’s show and this season the honor went to Independent Models London’s newcomer Katlin Aas, a fresh faced beauty from Estonia. Doing double duty as the opener and closer of the show Katlin is sure to grab the attention of fashion’s foremost - keep an eye out for her come campaign season.

She’s 16 years old, 5′ 9 1/2 inches and the toast the modeling biz right this minute now that she has opened and closed the FW 09 Prada show. But equally interesting is that this beauty from the Independent shop also opened Christopher Kane in London, where she also did Jaeger, Top Shop, Unique, Giles Deacon and Armand Basi. That makes it clear that London is once again buzzing as a hot-spot for launching a model’s career.

I totally get the mall girl comments, but I think its important to remember that the makeup and hair at Prada was not the best..

Even Sasha, August, etc.. did not look all that great in the show.

But I get she is getting a lot of criticism, since she did open/close Prada she has a lot of expectations I suppose

Katlin is now represented by the Women group in NYC. Not sure if she's with Supreme, Women or Women Direct..

I think the "pedestrian, mall girl" comments are quite harsh.

She's pretty to me and looks poised on the runway - not so much during Prada (probably due to bad makeup), but in London shows she's spectacular.

She is kind of mall. But REALLY good mall. Like, if she were an America's Next Top Model contestant, I'd be like wow, they've really found a great girl. But when you throw her in the ring with the elite status girls working today she comes of pedestrian.

And I honestly tried to be as objective as possible, and really look at the pictures, but I just don't see it. Maybe she'll surprise in print.

True. She's under more scrutiny than any other new girl, and people are likely to judge her harder. I've been avoiding this thread until now, because I didn't really have anything positive to say, and she's getting bashed enough as it is. Like others here, I question Katlin being chosen over more spectacular girls. Her look is nothing out of the ordinary. But I do see some potential in the digitals, her face is clean and nicely shaped, with a certain awareness in her eyes. And she has evidently made a strong impression on Miussell, so I dare say she must have qualities beyond what first meets the eye. Let's wait and see...
