This is from an interview Floria Sigusmondi did for PunkTV regarding the WS video, "Blue Orchid"
PunkTV.ca: The White Stripes are unlike most of the artists that you have worked with, in the way that there is a lot of visual themes that they maintain within all of their artwork, graphics, designs and videos. Tell us about your approach and motivation on the White Stripes video Blue Orchid. What were some of the major challenges that you faced in making the video similar to their other work, yet still uniquely “Floria”? Floria: The only thing that I had to do was dress them in red, white and black...that was easy...still I put my own twist on that. The challenge was how was I going to get a horse to mount Karen Elson...thank God the horse and her gotalong, if you know what I mean. I didn't try to make it similar to their other videos; it was more about creating a new world for them. The burnt and charred setting represented hell.
I always thought the horse (and maybe the snake and the apple) were meant to be Jack, so when I saw the horse was mounting Karen I was having weird naughty thoughts hehehehe
