Karen Walker S/S 06 - London

^I do see your point Label_Basher. It is sad that the name 'Marc' has become this generic term to describe a ton of designers who may have been designing Marc-esque clothing for a really long time.

I've decided to focus on the good. :p
here, here. cant recall the rest but the stuff with stripes is just adorable.

I will say that this is not my fav collection of hers...but I still like it. I really am a fan , but only picked up on her collections over the past year or so. Karen has always been sort of Marc-ish, but I don't feel like anything she does is a rip off, or even really inspired by Marc. I think most of her designs are more bold and ironic, such as smoking teddy bears and really scary looking clowns have been themes in some of her collections. here are some more from

I like how her clothes give off the "geeky and don't care" look. I do detest the clunky shoes she uses. I would never wear them. I don't mind the more feminine ones though

While I admit I don't see much here that I like and I do agree that the socks have to go it really bugs me the whole Marc Jacob's look-a-like comments.

I have been a fan of her for a few years now and this is her style and has been from the start. Most of you have seen Marc's collections for years because he has been showing in NY, Paris etc to the international press where as Karen has only in the last few years started showing in London before that only New Zealand and Australia. I'm sure not many of the members here pay any attention to the other fashion weeks around the world besides the 4 main ones.

She does work with stylist Heathermary Jackson who has worked with Marc in the past and maybe that's has something to do with it. So in a way I can see where your coming from but it still bugs me. I might be cause I'm not a Marc Jacobs fan.

I 100% agree with you and the MJ comments are bugging me too. If you look at Karen Walker's website you'll see that all her collections have that same quirky print and styling with slightly frumpy or "vintage" shapes that this collection does. In that way KW could be considered similar to MJ but it's by coincedence. Her clothes have always been like this and I really admire her.
I suggest you look at her other collections to find out for yourselves: www.karenwalker.com

some of the dresses have really cool prints though the socks were a tad unecessary

i usually like her clothes.. but this season is a little bit disappointing :(

I like a lot of it.. the dresses are nice
they're not mindblowing but nice

i really like this...
not always a fan...and some of it is very young for the prices she will be charging...
but there are a lot of fun and wearable pieces in there...

and i like the colours...

The shoes are cute..... she could have went a bit further, it's lacking a bit of originality....

i really like some of the shapes of the dresses and tops and the socks..but i hate hate HATE creepers and the inclusion of those shoes ruins a lot of it for me.

I think the jacket in post #23 is cute, but the rest is not all thagt great.

REALLY unflattering skirt lengths....and the sock/shoe combinations are BAD. I really like the long top in the first post though. It reminds me of marc jacobs.

agreed :flower:
