Karlie Kloss

Technically both Joan & Karlie should be sharing the #1 spotlight, yes Karlie has garnered more blue chip work than Joan during her time but there seems to be a mutual status for both models, with Arizona they would be like the modern Linda, Naomi & Christy imo, minus in this generation models don't gain so much recognition in todays society outside of fashion (with the exception of Joan & Karlie who have their fashion skit on MTV and model luxury vehicles). Also, Joan has a contract with Lancome, so that does give her better recognition than Karlie, and they ofcourse both do work with VS. Another thing is that Joan has shared campaigns with some iconic models unlike Karlie, but Karlie has also landed major OG campaigns like Dior & ODLR.

I hope this doesn't come as offensive but IMO I only think Joan landed the #1 spot was because she has done exceptionally well as a dark skin model, following into the footsteps of Liya (I can't count Arlenis or Chanel in this one only because the work that they have done does not come close to Joans at the moment). It's funny when the industry makes such a big deal when a colored model achieves like one blue chip campaign and that instantly puts them to stardom as models.com has apparently been doing with models over some time now, I remember how high they ranked Rose Cordero after her Vogue Paris March issue back in 2010 and then she completely vanished thereafter.

Anyways, Karlie is my #1, she's been in a good assortmant of major campaigns (Chloe, D&G, Dior, ODLR, Lanvin, ETC)

There was a rumour about that...:shifty:

Karlie also has much more fame... and a contract with Victoria's Secret. She opened and closed shows where was the model number 1. :p

I'm so glad she is back at Gucci!

How long has it been since the last time she was at Gucci? S/S 09? F/W 09?

^fierce at gucci!

btw, when was the last time Karlie has walked for Prada? I would love to see her at Prada show=)

Last time she walked for Prada was Fall 2009 when she was in her "death walk" period and she suited the dark collection. I'm not sure Ashley or Miuccia have any interest in casting her for the show though.

I think MDC made the right move putting Joan on #1 first, but now it definitely is Karlie's deserved rank!

I would say Karlie is much more famous than Joan. I mean if you just look at the number of twitter followers each girl has, Karlie has many more, almost 168000 while Joan has 110000. Plus there is so much buzz about Karlie, so many articles written about her, whether it's about her buying her first apartment, being romantically linked to Joshua Kushner, getting a haircut, etc. I mean, Joan has recently gotten a haircut too, but you don't see any places reporting about that.

I think Karlie and Joan will both enter MDC's Icons list someday. I mean, if someone like Agyness can... :innocent:

She did walk Miu Miu F/W 12.

Anyway, I don't really mind who's number 1 on that list but it's obvious that Karlie is much more successful. She's branding herself into the commercial market and she has quite a lot of fame outside the fashion world for a model of this era whereas Joan is just another successful high fashion model. Karlie is the closest to become a "super model" or "legend" or whatever you want to call it. Plus, she seems to have an illuminating personality to go with it.
I'm really anxious to see what's going to happen to Karlie's career in the coming years.
