NEW YORK, Oct 30, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- British supermodel Kate Moss is reportedly taking daughter Lila and moving from London to the United States.

Moss -- who is being investigated by Scotland Yard on drug charges -- finished a 30-day stay at an Arizona treatment center last week and flew to New York to start apartment hunting, the Daily Mirror reports.

"Kate has been badly shaken by events of the last couple of months," a source told the newspaper. "She will miss her family but she thinks it might be better to live away from Britain for a while."

Family and friends believe the farther away she is from from former boyfriend and heroin addict Pete Doherty, the better.
"
The best way for her to avoid temptation is simply not to see him any more," the source said.

Moss has plenty of work lined up to keep her busy in coming weeks, including modeling stints in Los Angeles, New York and Paris.

Any person in their right mind would take her daughter away from her. Funny how people let her get awayy with things like this but any average Jane would have been in court and have her kids taken away.

She's no better than the low life drug addicts in the rest of the non-famous world. Shame on the UK government for not having child welfare services put her dauaghter with her grandparents or dad.

Her daughter was with her dad while Kate was in rehab.
Since Kate is out of rehab and clean I don't see why she couldn't take her daughter back.

I think thats a completely absurd and idiotic comment. She is out of rehab and more than capable of raising and caring for her daughter. She has all the means and resources to make her daughter's life wonderful.

Well, for she to even attempt to go and actually finish rehab in the first place,is a good sign...not only for herself but how much she wants to care for her daughter. And wanting leave London too? She must be seriously awakened by this entire ordeal....and she will indefinitely be away from the temptation that is that disgusting pig so-called boyfriend of her's.

Best of luck to Kate for a full recovery! I think it's probably best that she stay away from Britain for a while to ensure she can make a fresh start. It has to be hard to know you have to give up seeing people who continue to lead unhealthly lives...she needs to surround herself with healthy friends.

I have people very close to me who are in recovery...and people recover from lots of things, whether it be alcohol, eating disorders, anger or other bad habits. To say that recovering addicts are unfit and that we should just discard them since they made mistakes is not a healthy perspective on addictions. It has taken me a long time and many years on this earth (I am now 31...I have learned a lot since my teenage years) to discover that being judgmental is not a healthy way for a person to be.

Well said!

If somebody, any parent is making for getting clean and off drugs then they wouldn't get there children taken away from them. This is the last thing that State and Social Services want and have to do by law.

IF the article is accurate I say good for Kate! :flower: Temptation is hard to let go but avoiding it even if she has to go across the globe to do so is a feat in itself...! I'm glad she chooses her life, her child's well being and perhaps her career over that scum of a guy. Kate's growing up, unfortunately, it had to be done publicly. B)

Who says she successfully completed rehab? She was there barely a month and she's been a drug addict for how many years?

She should have had her child taken away a long time ago, not just now.

This just adds to my arguement. She is 31 years old but has to move to a different country to avoid some low life heroine addict? How much common sense does she lack to even start hanging out with him in the first place?

Is she really fit to raise a child when some loser like Doherty can influence her to stuff coke up her nose? Does she not have a back bone?

I think some people are blinded by the fact that she is famous. Just because she has money and nannies does not make her a fit mother. If she were some average Jane in southern California I'm sure anyone would find her unfit.

Its naive to think that just because someone takes drugs, they are a bad mother. The 'low life drug addicts in the rest of the non-famous world' probably don't have a couple of full time nannies and a father who takes his time to also look after the child. Lets not forget, Kate is one of the hardest working, most successful models, she has obviously got her act together in spite of the chemicals she takes in her leisure time. Much like other mums and dads who go out for a boozy dinner and hire a babysitter to mind the kids while they come hime drunk at 2 in the morning. No-one is confiscating their kids.

Okay, she does dabble in illicit drugs but she was not busted on coke because her behaviour gave it away or because she left some lying around and Lila ate it up. She was busted because someone betrayed her privacy. Lila was not there when she was coked up.

I know plenty of straight laced, businessmen/politician/lawyer etc parents that have f*cked their kids up in many ways. You don't have to be on drugs to be a bad parent and being on drugs doesn't ultimate make you an unfit mother.

Ever think how this influences her daughter as she grows up? I can only imagine her being offered drugs and thinking "mommy manages to get admired despite her severe drug addiction so I guess it won’t be bad if I take it.”

If she's willing to suck up coke like a Hoover in front of a camera then I'm sure she has no qualms sucking it up at home...the same home her daughter lives in. Have you even encountered someone who is high on coke? Would you put your children or yourself in the hands of that person? I certainly wouldn’t!

Just because some others get away with being awful parents does not mean that she should get away with it when it is clear that she is a drug abuser.
