Kate Spade?

As a European girl I don't really know much about Kate Spade, is she hot in the USA? and how does the brand rank in coolness/prestige? They seem pretty blant to me, I mean... this for $295?!

they are so 90s IMO... half-preppy, boring. too simple. overpriced.
some of their shoes are cute. i dont see anything in their bags though.
(i used to want their nylon bags when i was younger.. not anymore)
