This morning, Vogue UK confirms last week's big fashion/movie rumor - that Kate Winslet's accepted the role of Vivienne Westwood in the British designer's upcoming biopic.
To prepare, Kate will be spending lots of time with Dame Viv, to pick up on that certain attitude she's known for - and presumably, to learn how to seamlessly morph from concentrated dressmaker to political activist in just a few breaths - and to study the exact shade of pumpkin Kate will need to reprise from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
The movie, from Universal, is untitled so far, but here's a thought - with biopics about Valentino, Chanel (she has two, actually) and now Vivienne Westwood eventually being released in every Regal Theatre across the country, does this mean fashion's new mission to stay accessible has finally shifted from the small screen to the big? Or can studied, thorough movies about designers coexist with Project Runway anyway?

Rumors have been circulating that Kate Winslet is poised to play designer Vivienne Westwood in an upcoming biopic about the life of one of punk’s originators. And although Vogue.co.uk reported yesterday that Kate will take on the role, the Titanic star’s publicist tells PEOPLE that the rumors are “not at all true.” PEOPLE also spoke with Vivienne Westwood’s team, originally quoted in the British Vogue story, who denied the claim as well, telling us, “The script has not even been finished yet, let alone casting. Kate Winslet was just one of many names that were mentioned as possibles to play Vivienne, but this whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion.” Kate may not be stepping into the iconic designer’s towering platforms anytime soon, but we think that she’d make an interesting choice.

Kate Winslet and her ex-husband, Jim Threapleton, picked up their daughter Mia, who turns 8 on October 12, from school in New York City. Also along was Joe Alfie, 4 1/2. Joe is Kate’s son with current husband Sam Mendes.

Oh my gosh, those pictures of Kate with Mia and Joe and Jim are so cute! I loved them as a couple He's changed so much, I think he looks much better now. And God, Mia's going to be a gorgeous girl, look at that pretty face
