Kate Winslet

I liked the idea and the shape of Kate's dress but the color did not sit well with me. I would have liked to see her in a more vibrant color, but she did look beautiful otherwise.
I'm glad she won too!

I agree, the dress was beautiful, she LOOKED beautiful.
But i think the reason I always seem to be not quite satisfied (not that she cares what I or anyone else think ) is that she always looks older than what she is. She always looks beautiful, elegant, sophisticated, however there's nothing really fresh or vibrant about her look.

To see her in photoshoots, and alot of her premieres (for eg. The Reader premiere when she wore that Herve Leger dress) she has the ability to look so absolutely stunning and sexy and HER AGE.

I think alot of other actresses her age have perfected the art of maintaining an elegant look, but still looking vibrant and sexy, like Angelina Jolie, Marion Cotillard, Reese Witherspoon.

Just wish Kate relaxed a little and had fun with it.

^ Me too. I think she wanted to make a "old Hollywood" glamor statement with this look but I think it fell short. She had the glamor down but the dress made her look matronly and sullen. If the dress was in a different color like a off white or a pale pink I think I would have liked it a lot better.

^^ I don't think she looked matronly :) that word conjures up a more dowdy image in my head.
She looked gorgeous but just older than her years. She needs to look a bit softer I think. I always wish she wore her hair down at these events, but in soft natural waves. She always has very "Styled" hair. Lots of mousse or gel.

I've found an old pic of Grace Kelly which seems to show that Kate's hairstylist was definitely channelling her!

Well she has thin hair like mine and it's hard to get any sort of style unless you gel and mousse it to death. So I know how hard it can be :)
Too bad she didn't channel Grace Kelly with the same dress that night.

I thought Kate looked amazing at the Oscars. She always looks classic and she knows what suits her best!

I think her whole Oscar look would have been perfect if her gown didn't have that lace thing over half of it.

^The lace thing is what I really liked^_^
To me, that is what made it more unique and stand out!

^Thank you opheliarose for posting all those pictures:flower:

I really like the ones of Kate and her husband and the ones with her parents!^_^

I just realized the missing person in #1973 was Heath.:(

Oh my god I did that too :(
When I first saw the pics, I was like 'That's weird Penelope's with them' and then my heart stopped for a second and I realised she's meant to be, but Heath is missing.

Thanks everyone for sharing those beautiful pics:flower:

Kate Winslet: Daughter "Mortified" She Wore a Gray Dress to the Oscars

Oscar winner Kate Winslet already made one worst dressed list - her daughter's!

After being named best actress on Sunday, she phoned her children backstage. Her 8-year-old daughter, Mia, couldn't get over Winslet's Yves St. Laurent asymmetric evening gown.

I said, 'Hi, Mia, did you jump up and down?'" she said on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday. "[Mia] says: 'Yes, I did, Mum, I did. I need to talk to you about the dress it was gray.' She was absolutely mortified I wore a gray dress."

Winslet told Winfrey she didn't want a lot of dresses being sent to her.

"I think in this time in the economy, it's just not nice to have people make lots of dresses and you just wear one out of a possible five," she said. "So Yves St. Laurent very kindly said, 'We'd like to make something for you,' and that was what we did."

Getting on stage to accept her Oscar was "an out-of-body experience."

Added the actress, "You just think, 'This can't be happening.'"

Now she can't stop staring her her statue.

"Isn't he cute?" she asked Winfrey as she held her Oscar. "I keep sort of looking at him and looking at every little piece. Very nice bottom."

Winslet said you won't be seeing that much of her on the big screen from now on.

"I have done quite a lot of nudity, and I feel like my kids they're 8 and 5 now maybe they're going to start to become aware of the amount of nudity I've done," she says. "I just sort of feel like I can't get away with it that much longer."

:lol::rolleyes:
