Kaya Scodelario

You know what's stupid and disappointing? People that can't be bothered to fact check. That guy her boyfriend "hit" with his car had climbed on to the hood of their car. The guy and his friends had been harassing Kaya inside a McDonald's, followed she and her boyfriend outside, and then leapt on the car as they tried to leave. They didn't leave him lying there cold-blooded. Her boyfriend sped off because he was, presumably, scared. As I think most people would be after some nutter JUMPS ON THEIR CAR. He turned himself into the police shortly after. The British courts found her boyfriend acted in self-defense, but, hey, what do they know?

That's Elliott's version, which the courts believed (and Kaya was the main witness on the case... wonder how biased she is? The McDonald's employee said no fight/altercation took place inside). The guy who was hit said he asked to borrow a cell phone outside and when Elliott said no, he stood in front of the car (not on top), not believing that Elliott would actually run him down. They left this guy bleeding out of his head on the side of the road without calling anyone. It's not like he was running around holding a gun or a knife and posing a significant danger. And even if they were scared of the consequences, they couldn't call an ambulance while they drove off in the safety of their car?

If this guy had had a hematoma in his brain as a result of the injury, it may have been too late by the time Elliott turned himself in. And this is precisely why people are angry and why he got punched. A lot of people think he only got slapped with a fine/points and that his story was believed because he is a celebrity. It's like Lindsay Lohan all over again.

Bottomline: it's a hit and run. Even if the hit was an accident, the run is the crime. And that's why people are angry.

No, the bottom line is this: you can't verify either story, so you shouldn't be passing judgment. The version you're spinning is what the press ran based on comments made by Oliver Flint's mother to the media in August. Wonder how biased she is? A lot of people also think the press demonized him and ran that version of the story before they had all the facts, because 'STAR LEAVES YOUNG MAN TO DIE!!!' was a sensational headline that would turn a profit. Since no one but the people present that night actually know what happened, don't speculate.

she should have stopped to see if the guy needed medical attention (which he did, seeing that he is now almost blind) or convinced her boyfriend to stop.
Is there any indication that she didn't try to do either?
I agree with your assessment of Elliott but I haven't written off Kaya as a decent person just yet.
It's difficult to fairly judge someone who was put in such stressful situation (and not by her doing). I can't guaranty that I myself would not have been too stunned/shocked to react in the morally right way.

However, I certainly can't get behind you with trying to defend the guy who punched Elliott: that was shameful and I can't see how that can be applauded.
You either chose to put your trust in the official justice system (which inevitably gets it wrong sometimes) or you choose vigilante justice (which gets it wrong most of the time).
You can't have both, because last time I checked assaulting someone in the street is unlawful.

To be honest, I think the reason why Elliott didn't stop is because he wanted to leave Kaya out of it. He turned himself in an hour later without Kaya, who probably should have gone with him since she's a witness and could provide a statement. Seems like he didn't want Kaya to get into trouble/be involved.

It's pretty much all hearsay right now; there's no objective account of what happened (in regards to what caused the hit). The only verifiable 'fact' is that they didn't stop to call for help and provide aid, which is against the law. And that's why people are angry with Kaya as well. If they'd stayed to help, public opinion would be different. I don't even care whether Elliot/the guy is at fault, but if someone is bleeding out of his head on the sidewalk, I think it's pretty awful to just drive off without calling for help. It takes 10 seconds and you can do that safely inside your locked car. And I would guess that others share a similar opinion, which is why the public hasn't been so sympathetic.

This story is extremely shocking and sad.

Elliott acted completely irresponsibly. I don't see how any of his behaviour was self-defense? Hitting an unarmed man with a car is unfair.

Once he and Kaya were in the safety of the car, with the doors locked in, did he have to run the guy over? Even if the guy was on the hood of the car, I find that inexcusable. He could have tried to calm things down and reason the guy, called the police, slowly driven away, taken witnesses (in the McDonald's for example?) or simply ran away? I just hope he didn't sacrifice a human life for the sake of his BMW.

we don't know what really happened.
and I'm kind of sad that the only thing that is talked about on this thread is this.

I hoope Kaya's carreer won't be harmed because of what happened.

Was he even sentenced already? I won't judge Kaya or her boyfriend for an incident we don't even know the facts for sure. I just wish that considering the circumstances both of them would keep a low profile and not share the details of their sentimental life on public twitter accounts.

We should really move this discussion to the rumor thread...

asos.com.au

It's an online magazine, so you can look at the photos and interview more closely, and there's also 'behind the scenes' footage too.

Those are my favorite pics of her! Her legs look AH-MAZING in the cover shot

RE: the asos and instyle pics, she looks really good in pale pinks and creamy whites.

As I had no prior knowledge of any "hit and run" before clicking on this thread, I don't have any comments on the subject, except for that fact that I won't be judging simply on gossip and hearsay found on the internet. That being said, I really love this girl. She is stunning. I really hope to see more of her in the future, not just as a model but as an actress. She is one of those few people that has that really striking look that is hard to forget. She ranks fairly high on my favorites.

From Justjaredjr:
Kaya Scodelario is wide-eyed in this shot from V Magazine’s The Discovery Issue, out on stands on Thursday, January 13th.

After the passing of her father in late 2010, the 18-year-old British starlet was nominated by Greg Krelenstein as part of the New Hollywood.

Kaya will next be seen in newest film adaption of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights as heroine Catherine Earnshaw.

The movie is expected to debut in September in the UK. Cross your fingers for US distribution too!

Awesome. I can totally see her as Catherine.
But didn't they just make a Wuthering Heights film like two years ago?

Shes lovely , I started watching Skins because of her !

wish kaya still in skins, i don't mind watching her at first gen, second gen, third gen, forth gen, fifth gen, and lots of generation!

as long as she's still play as effie! she's totally so cool in that cast!

I just saw Shank and she really only has a small roll in the second half of the film. Wasn't very good, it was like a long dubstep music video or something, but at least she was there and it's not like she's to blame for the bad movie lol.

I feel like she could only do Effy, can someone point me in the direction to some work of hers that is actually good, acting-wise (other than Skins)?

I mean no offense about this, I'm almost a stan lol. I just realised how one sided she can be when I saw this film.

She's a natural actress who carried off Effy's insane style impeccably on Skins. Leave the phoney moralising to the tabloids for god's sake.
