Elliott Tittensor plants a kiss on girlfriend Kaya Scodelario’s cheek as pose for a portrait for Jaeger LeCoultre during the 2011 Venice Film Festival on Tuesday evening (September 6) in Venice, Italy.

Kaya, 19, just premiered her new movie, Wuthering Heights, the day before with her cast mates.

She tells MoneyControl about taking on the role of Cathy, “I never wanted to do period, I was terrified of period because I am not trained, I haven’t been to drama school, my mum is Brazilian. I never felt I’d fit in for a period drama at all.”

Kaya added, “She completely relaxed me instantly, she said I don’t like period either, it’s not going to be like that, it’s not going to be completley stiff and strange, it’s going to be different. And that really excited me.”

^ I mostly agree but I also tend to think that Kaya's biggest problem is that she doesn't have a good sense of style and clearly isn't interested in fashion. The only two factors that seem to be preventing her from looking bad and that obviously work on her favor are genetics and the fact that she has a pretty generic taste (instead of vulgar or attention-seeking).. and of course she knows her figure and dresses for it. If only she trained her eye a little more or perhaps just hired a good stylist (hey, it works for the totally clueless!), I'm sure she could carry ANY kind of makeup, just like she did on Skins.

The lace dress at the Venice premiere looks good from a distance, and so does she, it's all less sophisticated up close, starting by the makeup. Eyes or lips, girl, not both!.

Totally agree with you on this! Especially the bit about her lack of sense of style and clearly no interest in fashion. However I do have to wonder, since when was it a requirement that an actress/singer/whoever have good style? I mean, yeah, I don't like seeing people dress in a trashy way but I don't think everyone should/or needs to have an interest in fashion. I'm not always crazy about what Kaya wears but I still think that she looks decent enough in most situations. And the fact that she's a natural beauty probably helps her look good even when her outfit isn't so hot.
