Something In The Way She Moves

July 27th, 2009 Mother Model’s, ethereal Kayla Travers stopped by for a quick test shoot Sunday afternoon. I haven’t seen Kayla for the better part of a year, so we had a bit of catching up to do. Walking through the neighborhood to find a spot to shoot, she filled me in on her recent trip to London, working with Marc Jacobs (New York Fashion Week FW08 + SS09) and the less glamorous but obviously equally significant family vacay to Florida.
There’s a little junction of two dark, narrow alleys around the corner from my place, and in spite of the rotting vegetables and mass proliferation of cigarette butts, its magical ability to bounce and diffuse light has landed it solidly on my favorites list. Wearing no makeup and armed with little more than a pair of cut-off denim shorts, strappy cage heels and a battered Sidekick, Kayla lit up the dark and overpowered the summer sun.

I have heard that she doesn't have a lot of time for modeling, her family has not made it a top priority so she is not available very often.
