Kelly Mittendorf
Arizona-born Kelly Mittendorf was scouted at her local swimming pool and has been modelling full-time for about 1.5 years. She is one of the growing number of girls from Middle America carving a successful route in the modelling industry.
Kelly’s unique look saw her land her first lucrative ad campaign for Prada in Autumn/Winter 2011 whilst her editorial credentials include Vogue Italia, V Magazine, Vogue Japan, Interview Russia, US Vogue, Dazed & Confused, British Vogue, Love, i-D, Vogue Russia, Ponystep, Lula, Vision and Tank.
Her catwalk experience includes Marc Jacobs, Topshop Unique, Giles, Loewe, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Mulberry.

How were you scouted: My Dad was throwing me around at a pool in Arizona for fun and a scout came up to him.
What’s your best feature: I think my eyes or my lips! My eyes are where my nicknames come from.
Favourite beauty product: I don’t use a lot of beauty products actually but I love perfumes – Chanel Chance or Marc Jacobs Daisy are my favorites.
Hobbies: If I’m home, snuggling with my two great danes. If I’m abroad, I like to go for a run in the city and get lost.
Fitness Regime: Running around a new city carrying all of the stuff models need to is the best work out you’ll ever get. If I’m at home I like running or kickboxing.
Favourite Movie: Right now it’s Perks of Being a Wallflower, I’ve read the book and the soundtrack is amazing.
What was the last track you listened to on your iPod?: “Come on Eileen” by Dexy’s Midnight Runners
Do you have any Guilty Pleasures?: Anything chocolate, especially chocolate Laduree macaroons
What is your biggest fear?: Getting lost and never being able to find my way back somewhere.
What is your dream country to visit?: I’d love to visit a Greek or Italian island soon! It’s time for some sun and beach.
If you were not modeling, what would you be doing?: I’d be in University full time, which I am now but only online.
If you got to relive one day in your modeling career it would be…: Meeting Steven Meisel for the first time
If you could be on the cover of any magazine: I always wanted to be on the cover of i-D and I was lucky enough to be for pre-fall. I would love to do an Italian Vogue cover as well.
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you on a shoot?: Any time I have to dance I think it’s a good laugh for everybody. I have no rhythm whatsoever.
What’s your favorite fashion city and why?: London. It’s enough of a big city to keep you interested at all times but everything is spread out so it isn’t overwhelming. The people are amazingly nice and everybody has this unique style, it’s inspiring just to walk around.
Who are your idols?: Grace Coddington is my biggest. I love that she was a model and was extremely successful and has remained in fashion as a sort of super hero.
