People need to wake up from that deep slumber the industry has changed and models with more social presence are more in demand. Celebrities have taken over the industry and for a brand to stand out the model representing them must be on the same level to be able to command attention. There's a reason agencies now list models social networks on their portfolios. Also whoever posted that she should ditch her fame hungry family should ditch their own family first!
Completely true.
Most of those complaining are ones who are still kind of stuck in the modelling of the 80's.
Facts are, certain models have always been entrepreneurs with true self-marketing and communication skills. They also participate actively in the diffusion of brands and are strong actors to fashion awareness.
Social media has given the power back to some of them when critics considered them to be just cloth hangers. All of a sudden, models have true factual business assets to make value, yes, the most important one, that is an audience brands are dying to touch.
So, if supermodels like Kendall are entrepreneurs then it's all normal social media gave the ability to show that they are extremely marketable and that they can please to any audience (casual fans, experts, girls-next-door etc.)
Kendall is the uncontested leader and that's nice to see. On Instagram alone, she has 9.9% of the audience and she's the 8th most followed account [...] I mean, hello, we're in a competitive world of business...
So the haters can keep complaining and living in a world where you would need to be the next Christy Turlington to get approval but in the XXIst century were Apple is worth more than Russia's economy or Singapore's (one of the wealthiest countries in the world), you'd better keep in touch with your time.
