Koto Bolofo - Photographer

ooohh i love the atmosphere in the black and white work..in the editorial especially...the quality of the light, the skies..reminds me of my favorite type of weather...mid afternoon with dark clouds gathering, getting ready for an autumn rainstorm! i love it! i LOVE when still, 2 dimensional photographs can give you a feeling like that...makes for a good photo, methinks ^_^

thanks anna, i love this work.

I want to start getting German Vogue! Those editorials are amazing. I want to frame the photo in #2.

The first editorial reminds of a Willa Cather novel...

you're very welcome francesca, i like your description of what a good photograph should be:heart:

mjk, that's interesting, are you thinking of any willa cather novel in particular? i have to admit that i only read 'my antonía'......

german vogue doesn't always feature such great editorials though, i was surprised to see these two published in so short a time, bolofo seems to have a long term contract with them?

Death Comes to the Archbishop comes immediately to mind. The first editorial also brings to mind the plains of Nebraska and Iowa, minus the corn. All of Cather's novels deal with the vastness of nature and there are always characters that have to deal with feelings of alienation. That editorial fits the bill...

i can't see your pictures but i do think they have a similar aesthetic only bolofo tends to be more sinister...

i love the mood of it, estella. . it seems sincere, unlike other 20s inspired eds. and I also like that it's a new issue and "they didnt use the 'it' clothes of the season" *fakes american accent* :p . it's lovely...we only get these kind of editorials once every two years in my country's vogue. brr.
