KYLIE MINOGUE TO LEAVE CHILE, ANGRY AT ALLEGATIONS OF AFFAIR

(May 8, 2007) A chance encounter with Aussie pop icon Kylie Minogue and her Chilean friend at Santiago airport raised a cool US$14 million for one lucky fan. The photo, which showed a smiling hunk holding a car door open for the beaming starlet, reached the front page of UK tabloid “The Sunday Mirror,” which promised an “exclusive” on Minogue’s relationship with the “handsome married film director.” Minogue is furious at the reports, and is rumored to have cut short her holiday at a Chilean seaside resort.

British and Australian tabloids were quick to seize on rumors that Minogue’s friendship with Chilean film producer Alexander Dahm is anything other than platonic, despite repeated statements from Dahm’s wife indicating otherwise.

British tabloids such as “The Sun,” “The Daily Mirror,” and “News of the World” have even gone so far as to send special correspondents to Chile to report on the story.

Friends of the Australian singer say she is desperate to leave Chile as soon as possible, due to continuous encroachments on her privacy by both local and foreign press. She and Dahm were last seen staying at a rented house in Cachagua, where they spent time browsing in local handicraft markets. Originally, the singer had intended to visit a friend in Manquehue, Santiago, but the visit is reported to have been cancelled after details were leaked to the press.

“It’s possibly that they’ll travel directly from Region V to Santiago Airport and will not visit Santiago at all,” said one source.

Minogue spent the first few days of her visit at the popular seaside resort of Viña del Mar, where she enjoyed pisco sours and seafood. According to local residents, the diva’s visit caused quite a stir.

“She’s a very nice lady, very polite,” said one local restaurant owner. “But she did have a very large appetite – I had to send out for more shrimps!”

Minogue is due to turn 40 this month, a milestone that will most likely be feted in all of Santiago’s gay clubs. However, it is unlikely that Minogue will be around to enjoy the celebrations.
