Riccardo Tisci opened his Givenchy Haute Couture show with three models of color yesterday evening in Paris. Leading the pack was Lakshmi Menon, who was recently plucked from near obscurity to become the face of Hermès. A L'Officiel editorial and Vogue India cover quickly followed—and now, we hear, she's set to be star of the Givenchy Fall campaign.

Lakshmi has an ed in the august issue of the french magazine Biba ^_^. I don't have a scanner but i tried to snap the ed with my phone. So forgive the quality of the photos. I hope mariemaud  or someone else will be able to scan the ed. The first part of the ed. Source : images snapped by me.
Of course I will  have bought it immediately as I've seen Lakshmi inside
So happy of how her career turns :woot: thanks everyone for updates

This is completely wrong. She had already been on the cover of Vogue India, done several campaigns/edits in India and walked in Paris before she got the Hermes campaign. She was up and coming but she was not plucked from obscurity! I don't know why this makes me so mad but this makes me mad - they need a fact checker.

No, I hear you; she deserves credit for her accomplishments but they can't be bothered to know what they're talking about, apparently. :ermm::lol:

recently plucked from near obscurity

"Near obscurity" in India, huh. She was probably more well-known in India than most top models are in the West.

This is true, she is one of the better known models in India, but apparently having a reasonably successful career out of the West makes you obscure.

Well, that's Style.com and the fashion industry as a whole for you. They probably consider themselves above actually checking their facts and such.

Lakshmi is so perfect for Givenchy. She is my favourite in the current ads, she just shines in them which is amazing because the other girls are all very established and experienced. I can't wait for more editorial work from this girls, she is just so......
