Lanvin S/S 2017 Paris

Heartfelt, beautiful and on point. The perfect marriage between Bouchra's personal style and the house codes.

In a way I am glad she didn't continue down the excessive, exuberant path of Alber's Lanvin and instead wiped the slate clean and did her own thing. It's a new era at the brand which I believe will be greatly appreciated.

I loved the tailoring, the pinstripe suits and the draping. There is room for improvement in the color department and the costume jewelry, but I think Bouchra is definitely on the right track.

Didn't like it, it feels flat without energy or excitement, without soul. A lot of fabrics appeared cheap like the white satin and some black fabrics. Some outfits reminded me of Ralph Lauren.

Most of it is really beautiful. Not better than Alber's Lanvin, but nice. Although I hate this trend of wearing fancy thongs with eveningwear...there are some nice looks (like Taylor's) that are ruined the second you see their feet.

Some of the floral looks look very cheap.

I want to like it, and there are some great pieces, but I still can't help but feel a bit disappointed....

I thought it was absolutely exquisite! I knew Bouchra wouldn't disappoint! I've never seen such a gorgeous blend of the designer's and house's aesthetics since Raf Simons in Jil Sander! You can definitely see Bouchra there and you can see the codes of the house as well! There are a few misses here and there, particularly in fabric choice and drape, but the mish-mash of stripes in the beginning, the decadent jewelry, the mix of black (or in some cases, dark navy) and gold were all so beautiful! The floral touches were a bit Chanel-esque though. I think the best part about it is the whole collection was so french, so Parisienne!! The clothes are what I would expect a young Jane Birkin or Lea Seydoux would have in their closets!

Brava!

I thought it was a very strong debut collection. Luxe. Love. Lanvin. ^_^

Incredible debut! I loved every minute of it. It was chic and feminine and of course Parisian. If I had to choose a word to describe it I would without a doubt call it effortless. Everything looked impeccably made and the styling was just right. It was suprisingly young as well. What a great start.

I want to like it but I can't, there are too many pieces that look just cheap or bland. Printed looks are the worst here.

Just out of curiosity, perhydrol, how does any of this look cheap or bland? I don't see any of that here. This looks way stronger than anything she's done before, and that includes her couture line.
So far, the new YSL was awful. The new Olivier was good..enough. The new Lanvin is great. Now let's see what the new Dior looks like.

it has a bit of Haider Ackermann vibe no ? Pinstripes, pyjamas, satin, asymetrical cuts...

Not a bad collection but this makes me miss Alber Elbaz who made us dreams with amazing stories every collection. I don't see a story here; just a nice collection.

The collection looked better in motion during the live steam than it does in nowfashion pictures.

Overall, I liked it. I'm glad to FINALLY see something different at Lanvin after years of stale repetition (no offense to Alber, but he hardly showed anything new or interesting the last few seasons). There are some really beautiful looks - my favorite being the one on Julia Nobis. But there are also some questionable to downright ugly looks. I didn't care at all for the striped feminine/masculine looks at the beginning, with Arizona's look being the ugliest thing ever. Also, some fabrics looked really cheap. Still, there was definitely more good than bad, so I'm excited to see where this combination goes from here.

I want to like it, but it's kinda eye-sore. The blue dresses especially. The white dress in the end is nice, the casting is good too so that makes me like the show, they need to do the Lanvin lighting tho! Still no match for Alber of course.

I know that we all see things very differently but I don't see how anyone can not think that this looks cheap. It looks too cheap for H&M to me. I feel like I could find a $5 version of that dress at any opshop..and again the fact that it is paired with thongs just makes it look so cheap to me.

Those are pure styling tricks, for runway purposes only. Do we pay attention to the styling of the runway shows months later when we actually go shopping for said garments at our local Barney's? I want to say no.

^but still that print isn't the most appealing one to me and it's even worse because of the technique they used for this particular dress
