Lanvin S/S 2020 Paris

Too scattered, the messy prints and styling didn't do him any favors either. I mean it's better than what we had, I like the Loewe aesthetic after all, but I'm not sure anyone will be excited by this. To rebuild this brand he needs to give us a clearer point of view.

I'm not a fan. I feel this is disjointed and lacking in identity. At Loewe, this works because of the excellent work JW Anderson has done to further position the house in the realm of craft and texture. Here a very similar identity is unaligned with the house DNA. On a rack next to other brands it looses its appeal and identity.

In the end I find it disturbing to see how much creative freedom is being taken these days by creative directors. I find it a failure to see the house codes untranslated within contemporary collections. Like marni, it feels like a parade of an uneducated ego, talented, but blind.

Of course, his aesthetic will be close to Loewe because that's where he came from. But I don't see any growth. I feel like he's not evolving and just stuck there. These wasn't that Lanvin glamour I was after. It's a lot of ideas that fail to be translated and refined into a collection.
