Nauseating, as is the case with each and every show of his. A few looks gave me the impression of knowing the models more intimately than their gynecologist.

Next time just send the models naked, it will be more elegant and dignified.

One thing I love about Laquan Smith is that he knows his clientele and always caters to it, which is something you can't say about most NYFW designers these days. Whether you like his style or not, there's a point of view, and his clothes make a lot of women feel sexy.

In a lot of ways, Laquan reminds me of Dsquared (even if he wants to affiliate himself with Tom).
The Caten brothers started with the same vision of very sexy clothes, very eurotrash, very Christina Aguilera type of trashiness…But over time, their vision became more sophisticated.

One thing is sure, Laquan has a defined idea of his woman and she is very identifiable. The same cannot be said indeed for a lot of American designers and even if they are more celebrated or « acceptable ».

This is maybe his most sophisticated collection to date. The fabrics looks elevated. The more demure propositions are safe but well executed and I even find the look with the purple blouse and the grey pants quite chic. Cindy Burna looks good in her orange number…
I think that in terms of taste, it could have been better. He is not the first one to do sheer but the fine line between sensuality and trashiness is crossed.
The styling is a bit too obvious. There’s not enough tension because all the clichés of the vamp are exploited.

That being said, I’m rooting for him.

Didn’t mind the collection, was not my favorite of his, but he is clearly instilling a more matured look compared to when he first started. I thought look two was wonderful, he should have started with such a stement piece.

Also, can someone, anyone please buy his the trousers in look 15 from his SS22 collection? They have been in the Nordstrom Flagship NYC store forever!!!

He needs to hire someone who knows how to work with chiffon. There’s no movement.

There’s an ease missing and everything is very 2D.
Love the idea of those yellow cargos. Ur the execution and construction is not great but he should produce those in tons of different fabrics.

I like the second, it's the most glamorous thing he ever created. The rest is his usual outing.
I see a lot of Tom Ford elements in this collection but have been done with less refined taste.

He needs to work with a different stylist, someone who can inject a little sophistication to balance out the vulgarity in his clothes.

He is obsessed with Tom Ford but he needs to learn how to expand his vision beyond the sexy images or it'll get tired soon.
What makes Tom great is that even though his clothes are sexy and sometimes even vulgar, his execution still makes them look expensive and desirable. And his clothes can appeal to multiple generations of women. LaQuan is limited to only one group of women.
If he wants to be the next TF he needs to add more daywear and tailoring. Because right now his clients look like they never left Coachella after-party.

Four years into the scene, it's time for a new evolution.
