Leggings

I have plain black leggings (which I made myself) and often wear them with short skirts, either tartan or denim & my big biker boots.

What is the exact difference between tights and leggins?

^ not stupid at all tights can't really be worn alone because even if they are opaque, they still have a sheer/see-through quality because they're made of a a very thin material - they're usually not worn alone for reasons of modesty. many people (myself included) do cut off the foot of their tights and wear them under skirts to achieve a similar effect to leggings, though. the pictures travolta posted would be considered tights.

true leggings, on the other hand, are made a thicker material...they're a bit more substantial and can potentially be worn alone. i.e. mettchen's peter jensen leggings she pictured earlier are most definitely leggings, not tights.

worn them to death first time around, i couldnt possible go back there..
excuses to find them hideous much more when worn with loose tshirts or mid hip embroidered or printed caftans
best possible interpretation: when at 3/4 length* and worn under shorter, full skirt/dress for effect

*they need to be one colour, prints wont do at all

See, this is addictive! Because I find both the skirt/dress and outfit tends to look better with, say black, underneath. The niceness/colour/texture of the skirt stands out much better.

But I object to those who wear them with denim mini skirts

sounds super strawberry.. the look is pretty 'forward' but popular over here

btw, we share the same 'kick' with skirts/dresses looking better on black/block colour and i prefer to get this with opaque tights.. i'm so used to them that in the summer i seldom wear skirts or dresses..
i could use the 3/4 (short) leggins trick but its too hot for this style here in the summer*..

*hence me getting stuck on my combats, combat jumpsuits, pareos and 'boybeater' sleeves t-shirts (thats all i've been wearing for the last two weeks)

i'm still kind of divided on leggings. i don't think i could ever pull it off, but on some people, with the right outfit, i think it looks outstanding. i just wanted to share this picture. i love scarlett johansson, but i can't figure this out. obviously the girls over at go fug yourself can't either.

i feel like they might be ok if they were just a little bit shorter: under the knee, maybe?
