i think the thing about him in the departed (besides his really fantastic acting) was that for me he has finally grown into his looks and become a man in my eyes...

before, in titanic and romeo and juliet, he was just sort of pretty boy cute, isnpiring crushes and histeria in teenage girls, but in the departed he was just straight up a HOT MAN... kind of dirty but in a good way

Perhaps that's why I developed a little crush on him. I've always been and admirer of his acting but never his looks, but now after seeing the Departed, I'm enjoying both immensely

I saw it again this past weekend, lol. Yeah, it was almost scary how awesome he was. And he had a lot to prove too! Acting against big weights like Jack Nicholson isn't easy, but trying to live up to the original (the excellent, excellent Tony Leung in "Infernal Affairs") must've been even harder since the original is so beloved and TL is probably the biggest (and best, imo) actor in HK. Props to Leo; I thought he really knocked it out of the park.

I did, however, catch a preview for his new film, "The Blood Diamond." .... His accent really bugs but I hope it won't be too bad in the actual film.

LOL, that's so odd because I saw the preview with a friend, who is also South African, and she also said it was horrible. We'll have to see how he does when the movie comes out.

I'm another one who never grew out of Leomania! It is not an inability to grow up, it is loyalty! (At least that is what I tell myself). I was 12 when Titanic came out so I was in the key demographic. He is such a geek though!

Even though I am not a South African, I can tell how off his accent is in Blood Diamonds. It just isn't right. However, that is a VERY tough accent to pull off.

Maybe it's like a regional thing? Or maybe there's some background to it (like he lived his childhood someplace else?)

I didn't find a thread about Leonardi Di Caprio... quite strange; I loved Titanic but at that time I just tought he was one of others good looking actors, but after that movie I think he has grown up a lot as an actor, I've recently seen The Departed and he's great there!!!!
