I dare say the couple of outstanding dresses by Lie work this technique far better than Valentino. The gradation/ombre plus the mix in scale make the fluttering even more enchanting.

I really like the organic quality of some of these pieces.

For example, this reminds me of a wasp nest (in a good way!
