Allen, daughter of comedian and actor Keith Allen, started dating her builder boyfriend, 32, last summer.
The couple told friends and family the news at the weekend.
Her pregnancy follows numerous hints that she was retiring from pop music, and comes after she cancelled a performance at the Benicassim music festival in Spain.
She was also spotted staying clear of cigarettes and alcohol at the Wireless festival last month.
She has made no secret of her wish to become a mother, saying in May she hoped to be pregnant by the end of the year.
She said at the time: ‘I’d want to be really hands-on for the first two or three years of having a little one. I don’t want to leave them.’
Her most recent performance was at last month's London's Wireless Festival, providing support for US rap superstar Jay-Z.
It's not known whether a scheduled performance in this month's Big Chill festival will go ahead.
This year she has also been setting up a vintage clothing line, Lucy In Disguise with elder sister Sarah Owen.
Her pop career has seen her notch two best-selling albums, Alright, Still and It's Not Me, It's You, as well as number one singles, The Fear and Smile.
In January 2008 Allen suffered a miscarriage after becoming pregnant by Ed Simons, one half of dance duo the Chemical Brothers.
