Lily Allen’s miscarriage sends her to the ‘nuthouse’
Depression after her miscarriage last year drove singer Lily Allen to a mental health facility. Allen puts it a bit differently, of course, saying in a Daily Telegraph that she went to a “nuthouse,” a “psychiatric clinic”
“I stayed there for three weeks. I was really depressed because of the miscarriage and I’d kind of lost the plot a bit. It was quite a nasty time,” she said.
The peace actually did her some good. “It was quite nice being in there. No one could get to me; no one knew I was there.”
The experience was a harbinger for the end of her relationship with the would-be baby daddy, Chemical Brothers member Ed Simmons.
“Maybe if I had stayed pregnant and had the baby then things would have worked out between me and Ed,” she says. “I don’t know. You could drive yourself insane thinking about it.”
