So nice she wore it twice: Lily 'the pink' Allen wheels out her favourite dress to perform on Jay Leno

She has a bumper wardrobe budget, not to mention the rails upon rails of gowns given to her by top fashion designers.

But Lily Allen opted for an old faithful for an important appearance on U.S. television yesterday.

The singer dusted off her favourite sugar pink fringed dress to perform on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, which was the same confection she plumped for at GQ magazine's 20th anniversary dinner three months before.

The second time around though, she softened her look with gentle curls, a sweeping fringe and natural make-up.

The 23-year-old, who recently revealed she splashed £100,000 on clothes last year alone, also swapped her silver heels for a vertiginous pair of mauve platforms.

Pretty in pink: Lily looked radiant as she appeared on the show to promote her album It's Not Me, It's You

Lily flew to America to promote her new album It's Not Me, It's You after revealing she wants to reach number one on the Billboard charts.

In a message to fans in which she begged them to by the record, she wrote: 'I could well be up for number one here, which makes me want to cry a bit.

'I've never begged you to buy from me ever, but I am now. This will be the only time ever in my life that this could happen for me.'

In the UK, her follow-up to Alright, Still shot straight to the top of the chart, while her single The Fear also remains at number one.

Lily may be riding high, but it's not all smooth sailing for the outspoken star.

Last night she found herself engaged in a very public argument with gossip writer Perez Hilton - her online nemesis - on micro-blogging site Twitter.

She described Perez as a 'douchebag' and a 'bitter lonely old queen' in a rapid-fire message exchange as thousands followers watched on.

Perez hit back by saying: 'If I wanted to be a f***** up Brit, I'd rather be Amy Winehouse.'

He called her 'desperate' for reducing the price of her album to $3.99.

I really hate how Perez Hilton has it in for her, he is constantly bullying her and and other celebrities that his clearly a lot lower than. He needs a good slap and maybe he'll stop being such an idiot

"The Fear" video

does anyone know the name of the set designer for her video "the fear"? I think it's lovely, reminds me of the mind of Tim Walker

Hope this helps LilySalvadore...

Lily Allen’s The Fear by Nez

Lily Allen is back, with lyrical sharpness and knowing on-camera presence fully intact.

And in Nez’s video for The Fear, he counterpoints Lily’s witty satire on the world of celebrity, with an inventive, surreal production number.

Lily goes directly from caravan to country pile – Wrest Park in Bedford – gliding through a platoon of dancing butlers, into rooms reflecting her role as a ‘weapon of massive consumption’, before the climax in the fabulous gardens of the estate – featuring her name spelled out in giant letters.

It’s an impressive leap into the pop world for Nez after his MVA-winning clip for Kano’s Hustler. And as he explains below, he thinks that Lily’s cautionary cry for help comes straight from the heart…

The Fear (Parlophone Records)
Production Company: Colonel Blimp
Director: Nez
Producer: Georgina Filmore
Executive Producer: John Hassay
DoP: Jake Polonsky
Art Director: James Hatt
Make Up: Miranda Joyce
Hair: Samantha Hillerby
Stylist: Lucy Manning
Choreographer: Alex Reynolds
Grade: Paul Harrison at the Mill
Editor: Dan Sherwin at Final Cut
Commissioner: Katie Griffiths
Location: Wrest Park, Hitchin, Bedford

“Originally I was going to make a viral for the album. Three days before the shoot she cancelled her calendar for two months, and took some time off.
“When it came back I was still going to do the viral for a while, but Katie [Griffiths, the video’s commissioner] let me treat for the video. When I heard the track for the first time I immediately thought of Alice In Wonderland, and built my idea from then.

“I’d always thought she was singing about herself. It almost feels like she’s one person some of the time, and then another at other times – she is taking the piss out of consumerism, but there’s also some seriousness about it too. Hence the title: The Fear.

“The fact she hadn’t made a video for two years, and having a shoot with such long hours might have been difficult for her. We started with the exteriors and it was freezing cold. She was still getting into it. And the final aerial shot of the house is a real matte painting – we took a photo then extended it massively.

“Probably the hardest part was the choreography. Due to her having the flu, Lily had missed the rehearsal, and had to learn it as we were going. She wasn’t comfortable with the choreography because she hadn’t rehearsed. But we adapted it.

“Overall it was close to my original vision. It couldn’t really have any holes, but we had to cut around a couple of things. As a mood and as a look it achieved my objectives – and it’s one I learned loads from: you only learn from the hard ones.”

Lily Allen's got a new tattoo and shhh... it's the same as Rihanna's

on 19th February 2009

Lily Allen shared a secret with her fans today - a brand new tattoo that reads Shhh... across her index finger.
The pop star, who is currently in the U.S. promoting her new album It's Not Me, It's You, posted a photograph of the new ink on Twitter, a micro-blogging website.
While some praised her new tattoo, other eagle-eyed followers were quick to point out they'd seen it somewhere before.
Chart-topper Rihanna has the same scrawling on her finger.

Keep it quiet: Lily Allen showed Twitter fans her new tattoo Shhh...

She had it first: Pop star Rihanna

Lily got her new body art at 2am this morning, after a night out partying with Lindsay Lohan.
According to American celebrity blogger Perez Hilton the two each got a tattoo at Shamrock Tattoos in West Hollywood.
It seems an uncharacteristic move for Lily, who usually prides herself on her originality.
But it seemed to be the day for copycat behaviour - just hours earlier she performed a rendition of Britney Spears' hit Womanizer on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
She took part in the 'Ellen's Bathroom Concert Series' skit, where stars join the host in singing a pop tune in a small studio bathroom.
The 23-year-old is no stranger to the hit track - she got into hot water with executives at EMI Music Group after her unauthorized cover version leaked on to the internet back in December.
