She must be. She must have got her offer just after Christmas and she must be studying for exams which she will sit in May and June, upon which the offer depends. If people think she wanted to study Psychology, then she must have a place to study SPS at Cambridge (Social and Political science, of which psychology is a component)

How can she manage with having to take so many weeks off school each year?! I struggle even after missing more than 3 lessons of the same subject in a row and I'm not the bluntest knife in the rack. And isn't there that law in the UK, that if your attendence drops below something like 80%, your parents have to pay a fine and if the poor attendence progresses, they have to go to jail

I think you can make arangements with your school to take long distance courses - one of my friends was a professional cellist and went to school in the UK, he missed a lot of classes to go on tours and that's what he did. He had to mail in the homework and take tests at designated times, etc. Perhaps that's what Lily did?
