Vogue Arabia, November 2020
"Her latest binge-worthy Netflix series, Emily In Paris, received a mix reaction from some viewers who claimed it used unfair stereotypes of French people.
And Lily Collins has now addressed the criticism during an interview in the November issue of Vogue Arabia, where she discussed the show and her fiancé Charlie Dowell, who popped the question earlier this month.
The actress, 31, admitted that while it was 'disheartening' to read the negative press surrounding the series, she also sees it as a positive as it gives her the ability to improve in the future.
Lily told the publication that if the show is commissioned for another series she was 'evolve the narrative', while adding that the producers: 'Championed my opinions and opened me up to an experience that was so rewarding and empowering.'
During the chat, Lily also touched on her recent engagement to film director and writer Charlie, admitting it was love at first sight for the couple.
She said: 'I knew from the moment we met that this was the person for me.'
Opening up about her previously struggles, she said:'In the past, I would seek ways to control myself. It came out in the form of eating disorders or deep anxiety […] I try and sit and work through my emotions instead of ignoring them.
'The old me would have focused more on the negative. Now it's just one part of my life. All these other positive things prevent me from obsessing.'"
