Rodarte’s fall 2011 collection had a pastoral influence and hair followed suit (Days of Heaven, a film set in rural Texas, was mentioned by the designers during the beauty test). After complementing the “organic” side-swept ’do with a small braid resembling the head of a wheat stem, Aveda hair guru Odile Gilbert added a decorative comb at the back.
Though she likes the Rodarte-designed hair piece, model Lindsey Wixson (pictured above) says in real life she’d accessorize the style with a hat. “I love hats! I collect vintage ones—I find them at antique shops in Kansas,” says the 16-year-old Wichita native. “I think I get it from my mom. She’s always going to antique stores and finding things to redecorate our home. It seems like she redecorates every month!”
