Liya Kebede To Launch New Clothing Line

Submitted by Nisha on Mon, 2007-07-30 22:11. celebrity designers | Liya Kebede Supermodel Liya Kebede is about to become the latest celebrity/model to add "designer" to her resume. Kebede has announced that she will release a collection of children's clothes in the spring. Her new line will be called "Lemlem", which FWD reports "means “to bloom” in Amharic, a Semitic language from Kebede’s native Ethiopia."
Although she is just one of dozens of other celebrity designers lately, there is one thing that sets Kebede's clothing line apart from the others. All the children's clothes will be handmade in Ethiopia, which means the clothes will incorporate some elements from traditional Ethiopian clothing for a fresh look that (hopefully) won't be like everything else on the market already.
Liya Kebede is the face of Estee Lauder. She has also been noted for her charitable work through the World Health Organization (for which she is a goodwill ambassador) and for setting up the Liya Kebede Foundation to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality.

It's so great to see Liya exploring her other options ( designing clothes, acting, charity work). The fashion industry is fickle and whilst I think that she'll never abandon modelling anytime soon it's still refreshing to see that she's smart enough to now consider it as something she's doing on the side. There's a whole wide world beyond modelling and i'm certain she'll succede in whatever she desires in the future

Thanks for uploading her documentary, sharkslayerlolay :flower:

^ How can one not appreciate Liya? I love her so much. And, I, too, admire her decor (thanks Luxx!). Now, if I can figure out how to invite her over (or vice-versa) for dinner. I think she'd be a fascinating person to have over dinner discussion. That is, if I can keep myself from staring too hard...
