Worldwide Orphans Foundation Announces Third Annual Benefit Gala Honorees Liya Kebede and Silda Wall Spitzer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Jane Aronson, founder, CEO and executive medical director, Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO), announced today that WWO will honor Liya Kebede and Silda Wall Spitzer at its Third Annual Benefit Gala, October 15, 2007, 6:00 pm, Cipriani Wall Street, New York.


WWO, dedicated to transforming the lives of orphaned children around the world, is celebrating its 10th anniversary year.

Liya Kebede is WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health; Estee Lauder Spokesmodel for Global Campaign Strategy; and president of The Liya Kebede Foundation for Mothers and Children. Ms. Kebede is Ethiopian and works tirelessly for her country and as an advocate for women and children everywhere. She established her foundation to reduce maternal and child mortality and improve the health and well-being of mothers and children worldwide.

Silda Wall Spitzer is founding chair of Children for Children, an organization that creates opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to volunteer their time and resources to benefit children and others. She is founding co-chair of Project Cicero, the annual NYC book drive that builds classroom libraries in under-resourced schools, serves as trustee for her children's school, and served on the NY Blue Ribbon Commission on Youth Leadership and the board of The Children's Museum of Manhattan. Ms. Wall Spitzer earned a law degree from Harvard Law School. She began her legal career with Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom and later joined The Chase Manhattan Bank's International Legal Group.
The mission of Worldwide Orphans Foundation is to transform the lives of orphaned children around the world by addressing their unique needs through medical, developmental, psychosocial and educational programs.
