Liya for J.Crew

When J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons and team met supermodel, mother of two, and International Goodwill Ambassador Liya Kebede, a relationship was born. Lyons approached Kebede to appear in the April catalog, but both quickly realized their relationship needn't end there. The product of their partnership? Not only will Kebede be the first model to be the exclusive face of a J.Crew catalog, but J.Crew's Crewcuts line will pick up pieces from the model's handmade children's clothing line, Lemlem. Lemlem (the name means "to bloom") was launched by Kebede in 2007, with all of the pieces made by hand from natural cotton in her native Ethiopia. The line will be available at Crewcuts store locations and at jcrew.com beginning in April.

^ That's some great news! She looks gorgeous! Can't wait to see the whole catalogue! Plus i'm also happy that her clothing line is still doing great..she deserves any kind of success! ^_^

:rofl: thanks for the correction, I must've been looking at both at the same time.

i wonder why she hasnt done a lot more
like jourdan

I think it has to do with the fact that Jourdan is a younger model, and the industry loves the young girls.
Plus Jourdan is also looking for more experience, and with the industry offering her so much she is taking it,
that's why she has done so many shows (63 shows I think) and editorial work. Whereas Liya is more established,
she would be considered one of the generations new Supermodel, so she only comes out to do the exclusive, high paying jobs.
That's why we often only see her in Vogue, and she only does the high paying and not to mention most elite fashion shows like;
Lanvin, Balenciaga which she has recently started back doing, Chanel, Givenchy Valentino etc. Hope this helps a little:flower:

I think Liya has more options now. She can wait for the jobs that pays most, offer favors for her favorite designers and do other stuff (act, be a mother and wife, making clothing lines, etc). She can be selective now.

When it comes to Jourdan, I think it's good there are new models getting exposure. Unfortunately, I don't think Jourdan has had many, if any, big campaigns. I wish she did, but as much exposure as she gets in eds and on runways, you really get paid with campaigns. That's probably why even when Liya isn't doing much, you only see her on a few runways, but she'll at least have a big campaign with Lanvin or St. John or something that probably pays very well.

Well said! Liya is much more established, therefore she does not have to do any and everything,
whereas if Jourdan wants to be on top she needs to have that exposure, so she's taking everything she can get^_^

I really like the first pics of Liya for J Crew.
A few days to wait till the whole catalog is out there. It's the first time, I'm anticipating their campaign!

She looks absolutely incredible in the J.Crew catalog. Nearly the entire issue is devoted to her! :heart::heart:
