It’s been a busy few months for supermodel Liya Kebede. She finished shooting her newest film, Black Gold, and joined L’Oreal’s stable of famous faces. Somewhere in between she decided to expand her brand, lemlem.
Fall marks a few firsts for lemlem. For starters, Kebede‘s given her Ehtiopian weavers Italian wool to weave into winter-ready pieces. She’s also making shoes for the first time by sending Ethiopian fabrics to Guatemala where each pair is handmade. Lastly, they’re working colorful block printing onto scarves and skirts.
As a result, the fall lookbook is full of everyday pieces that’ll work into a city wardrobe instead of just the beach ready cover-ups and lightweight cotton scarves for which lemlem’s already loved. If you’re looking to jump on the Proenza-print bandwagon for fall, lemlem’s making it more attainable.
