Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede is a Vogue cover girl turning heads around the globe. She is the first black model to become the face of Estée Lauder in the company's 59-year history.

Liya first captured the world's attention five years ago when former Gucci designer Tom Ford discovered her. Now she's the famous face for designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton.

When Liya's not commanding the catwalk, the 26-year-old wife and mother is a crusader working passionately with the World Health Organization to improve the lives of women and children around the world. She recently became involved with the Fistula Hospital to help women with fistula, a problem she wasn't aware of while she lived in Ethiopia.

"You don't talk about it because obviously the women are shunned or isolated. It's a shameful thing to talk about," she says.

Earlier this year Liya and her husband visited the hospital. The experience was so moving it sparked her to launch a crusade to help young women suffering from fistulas in her homeland.

"What's happening in the world is that half a million women during pregnancy and childbirth die every year," says Liya. "I'm getting a chance to give back to put this on the map."

Recently, Liya teamed up with three high-profile New York teenagers to host a fundraiser to earn money in support of the hospital. Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour helped coordinate fashions donated by Prada, Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang. The group raised $100,000.

I have seen the LV ad before online. I can't recall seeing it in magazines though. A shame really because that' s one of her best ad shots:heart: .

Her face is beyond gorgeous in that shot. Thanks toohipforbrooklyn

:woot:

Liya has a new hair cut. She looks really good. I love what she is wearing. Who would have thought she had given birth 2 months ago?. No one can look this good after having a child:D .

you just make a screen capture of the image you want, go to a photo editing program, crop the picture and save it :flower:

she looked so good at the oprah show, although her make-up seems a bit caked on... does anyone one where i can find a video of it online??

I saw Liya on Oprah yesterday too!!!!! Oprah pronounced liya's last name
ke-Bah-rah...i didnt know that's how you say it...

Liyah's so refined and well spoken...she puts most of those trashy models to shame!!!!

This is a real woman, not a girl. she exudes strength, elegance, intelligence, and love...not to mention physical beauty. Love her... :p
