ET has confirmed the surprising news that after more than 11 years of marriage, HEATHER LOCKLEAR, 44, and her rocker husband, RITCHI SAMBORA, 46, are calling it quits.

"Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from Richie Sambora," according to her publicist. "This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."

The "Melrose Place" star and BON JOVI guitarist have one child, 8-year-old AVA ELIZABETH. Locklear was previously married to another rocker, TOMMY LEE.

Just last June on the red carpet at 'The Perfect Man' premiere, Sambora told our KEVIN FRAZIER what made Locklear so perfect for him: "Just look at her, I got the prettiest girl in the place everywhere I go."

Looks like Heather forgot to tell Richie it was ovah!

Heather Locklear announced she had filed for divorce Thursday evening — but it was news to her husband, rocker Richie Sambora.

More than an hour after Locklear's publicist spread the word that their 11-year-marriage was kaput, the Bon Jovi guitarist told ABC News Radio in an exclusive interview that things were fine at home.

"It's completely untrue," he insisted, adding that he had Valentine's Day plans with his wife.

Nevertheless, the "Spin City" actress had already set the legal wheels in motion, and her spokeswoman, CeCe York, was spreading the word.

"After 10 years of marriage, Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from Richie Sambora," the rep said in a statement hours earlier. "This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."

The message was apparently not delivered to the rocker, who has been touring recently, and spoke with ABC shortly before a show at Washington's MCI Center.

Even when confronted with the report, which had then hit the news wires, he spoke lovingly of Locklear.

"I'm going home," said Sambora, who says that Locklear sometimes joins him when he's touring.

"Heather was just up for our anniversary and that was Dec. 15 … I was home for like two and a half weeks in Christmas and I have a month off in March, so it's going to be good."

I heard she essentially blindsided him with it because she found emails that were evidence of an affair, and was counseled by her best friend Denise Richards into leaving him - and here Denise was the other woman the whole time. But who knows, the whole thing is so soapy.

But if Richie was carrying on with Denise or anyone else, I don't think he deserved a warning. I'd feel the same way if Richie had filed against Heather without telling her first, if he'd discovered she was being unfaithful.
