Loewe F/W 2021.22 Paris

Wow... honestly speechless at how incredible this all is!!!

LVMH must have told Jonathan to win back some of the Philophile customers that he might have scared away the past few seasons. With that being said, it's nice to see Jonathan go back to a more sleek and chic direction (and nice to see an actual model modeling the clothes this time). I can see those platform loafer/boots combo being a coveted item come Fall.

I just breathed a sigh of relief after having seen his namesake show and bracing myself for the worst.

He said the inspiration was color therapy and I did get a good jolt of excitement watching the first few dresses with lightning bolt prints, the canary yellow coat and that wispy robe de style in lavender. The black felt coat is stunning in its sobriety.

It's quite 1920s as seen through Bauhaus and the neoplasticist movement, something from the 60s too but not done in a predictable manner.

A lot of the ‘simpler’ looks/pieces here really shine for me, like the two suits.

I’m happy to see Freja but I can’t over the terrible hairstyles that they gave her.

I find it really nice; it makes me thinks of Diane Vreeland (the hair etc)

Looks like expensive high fashion that is hard to find and of a discerning taste. AKA doing his job.

This is simply gorgeous. Deliciously gorgeous. It feels so un-2021 since it's real fashion. One of the few bright lights of the season.

This makes me scared though. This is part of the LVMH strategy. Install a really talented designer in one of their brands. Make fashion people fall in love - which would then create an aura of sophistication in the brand. This high-fashion reputation would then trickle down to the masses but remains unrelatable due to the (largely) logo-less bags and fashion. THEN BAM! An overrated, social-media savvy and/or streetwear designer takes over to churn out mass market baubles and rags, in the hopes of creating a "billion-euro brand". It's the Céline -> Celine strategy.

I hope I'm wrong and that it wouldn't happen for some time. I hope that LVMH still thinks Loewe is still not at critical mass and JWA continues with his vision for Loewe. Otherwise, what's the point?!
