Loewe Menswear S/S 2023 Paris

I like it. It's miles better than this own-brand offering.

Don't care for the green gimmicks, but there is a lot of outstanding outerwear for the next FW (it seems like the theme of this season is just to skip summer altogether). I'm obsessed with those sweaters/capes hybrid.

The 54 & 55 coats with the green details are striking tho.

I always love Anderson's experiments with Loewe. The team here really helps to push him in terms of ideas and qualities. It's rare to see it from a conglomerate brand these days.

Pretty good, and surprisingly wearable for the most part.

I actually loved the grass motifs, it could've easily looked garish but he incorporated it well into the looks. The coats looked gorgeous in movement, like it was ostrich feathers.

It's a pretty fun, nicely done collection. A little something for everyone. Nothing especially thrilling but I'd probably feel different if I were a potential customer.

My only note is that it's a bit heavy for a SS collection. I'm surprised to not see any great shirting moments.

This is a real question, when you say a little something for everyone, who exactly are you referring to? Without going into to much detail, what different customer bases do you see being attracted to or actually purchasing these pieces?

I see this and I wonder what the point of it actually is.

When Anderson started at Loewe I actually really enjoyed his collections and propositions, but there's a feeling of him getting a little too comfortable in his ivory tower as of late. The collection looks like less of a collection, and mainly just cheap merchandise. Great pieces for sure, but the repetitive nature leaves it feeling rather bland.

Between his own label and this, there's very little distinction happening and I'm becoming a little inundated with this approach (it isn't just Anderson doing this though). Will now have to wait for the expected interviews on fashion is art rhetoric, editorials/shoots/campaigns with Teller and his ilk, the fash-pack frothing (Alex Fury has already begun...) and the usual rigmarole over this.

I like this so much better than last season. I always loved Prada SS09 with the crinkled fabrics, but they were never produced for men. It's nice to see that here. It's making me nostalgic. There are so many good pieces that could add to a wardrobe. I don't even mind the seasonal gimmick which is the screens, thankfully they don't add or detract from the collection. The one eyesore are those repulsive tights. It just comes off as lazy when designers settle for tights rather than putting the extra work into a nice pair of pants or shorts.

It's got some understated and practical pieces for the older, waspy rich guy. It's got oversized streetwear for the younger, post-Kardashian millennials. It's got something for the flamboyant, expendable-income wielding fashion lover, etc.

It's not a collection of looks. Looks are not what are being proposed here. It's a collection of individual pieces that cater to different but equally wealthy customers.

But this isn't new for Loewe and I believe it's partly why their sales have been booming.

I thought it is his own namesake brand that we see alot of experimenting? (I was gifted some phallic-shaped key chains of the JWA brand)
And I am glad he is doing that since a lot of his own brands merchandise does not appeal to me, artsy or not, I dont care, I simply cannot imagine myself in more than 5 colors in one outfit but if it makes him happy to design sensible clothes for Loewe than I am happy. As it is, Loewe has came a long way since Stuart Vevers` ( whom has also done some great things) days.

So this is the Loewe that he has somewhat kept relatively safe, arty-collabs, cultural, wearable and mostly, sellable!

In this collection, I see alot of hit items, like the logo washed polos, logo bags, tights, etc etc. They will be selling like hot cakes I am very sure. Even the models also look like collegiate Abercrombie types so is there an intention to lower the client demographics, it is not bad, just a very easy collection meant to spike sales. I know for a fact, in Asia, the donation to and subsequent collabs with Ghibli studios` Totoro, and Spirited Away sold like hotcakes, mostly all sold within the first week or so across Asia. So maybe this strategy is right.

I'm interested to see what happens to the grass stuff. Idg what they're gonna do with it bc the fabric is gonna get all moldy and probably rot. Might be neat to just dress a statue with it and see where it goes lol
