'Gang of Africa', with such excessive skin-lightening going on? Especially with Iman and Naomi. The shot reminds me of a UK Harper's Bazaar feature. It's a great idea but Ellen v Unwerth wasn't the right choice for this. And Ciara doesn't belong with this crowd.

Also Black Beauty Matters? They really should use the Black Lives Matters movement as a means to sell a fashion magazine. It's almost insulting.

I am not sure who thought 'Gang of Africa' was a good title for this but it's unfortunate. This is a bunch of successful black women celebrated for their uniqueness, so can we stop grouping them in "gangs" or whatever.

Also, Africa? Ciara is born in Texas and Riley in Detroit. Is there a direct connection I'm missing?

I really don't know why Jenke Ahmed Tailly did this. It's slightly embarrassing to do something like this when the EIC gives you "carte blanche".

It's one thing to say "Black Beauty Matters" and another to say "Gang of Africa". I really can't believe that JAT agreed to publish this like that.

Ciara really doesn't belong there. There is no connection between her and the other women.

I like the statement of having an almost All Black issue for a September Cover of a french magazine but the titles are really a turn-off.

I'm sure it will be controversial in France...

This is just cringe worthy. I mean they probably have a better intension but everything felt wrong and not very well thought out.

I actually find the use of "Africa" kinda racist. Black people are originally from Africa so let´s call this women african? I don´t get what were their lines of thought...

Even though Ciara is hardly a 'fashion' girl, she holds her own in the L'officiel paris editorial. Aside from this and her L'officiel Singapore cover (which she also owned) she hasn't really done any fashion covers, so yay for her. You'd think her connection to Cavalli and Peter Dundas would have scored her a few more?
