thanks to castorpollux for the idea of this thread
the logo.. the brand, the label, the tag

important for the 'image' for the designer, for the products
defines the look, the mood the identity

This one I have seen so many times in graphic design and logo design books,
the ever famous Chanel logo

In some articles they were writing that Coco Chanel was going for a strong look to her logo, just like her masculine-inspired garment collections. A lot of the fashion labels in her time were designed with very delicate and elegant handwriting, and she wanted something completely opposite... hence this more industrial look in the font and symbol.

thanks to titania for some ideas in logos

lovely idea for a thread.
i always thought the jeanne lanvin logo was very charming since it's depicting jeanne and her daughter marguerite..
created by paul iribe:

^ The Jeanne Lanvin logo is so sweet..

Great thread, Gius. You and a couple of other people keep up the spirit of this forum.

Madame Vionnet's label was originally her hand signature on a piece of cloth. Later, she stamped labels that included her thumb print to ward off theft of her designs.

thanks for this topic gius, typographic logo's in fashion really reflect the mindset of the designer. It seems I tend to have mostly san serif logo's in my closet.

Great thread gius! Its very interesting to see how some logos have changed over time, and some designers like Chanel have opted with the "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" mindset.

i really like the vintage Vionnet tag w/ the finger print :D

here are a few i took myself :flower:

I always thought the origin of the Nike swoosh was interesting... Especially when you consider the fact that it wasn't exactly Phil Knight's "first choice." It's supposed to represent simplicity, fluidity, and speed...
